TRANSITIONAL STYLE STAPLES | WINTER TO SPRING 2019

The perpetual Extreme Cold Warning finally appears to have lifted here in Calgary — and with temperatures set to rise above O°C this weekend, visions of spring are dancing through my head! Although I typically enjoy dressing for whatever weather mother nature throws our way, after experiencing the 3rd coldest February on record, I’m must admit I’m really looking forward to spring. But because of our cooler, rather temperamental climate, realistically it will be a couple of months before bare legs and open-toed shoes are on the menu. So, what’s a girl to wear while she’s longing for spring but still experiencing wintery weather?!

While I absolutely love to experiment with integrating seasonal trends into my personal style, I also believe a wardrobe built on a foundation of quality basics is essential in order to do so. This fashion philosophy has inspired me to start a brand new series called STYLE STAPLES here at JustineCelina where I’ll be sharing my most worn, most loved, workhorse wardrobe staples, season after season — the ones I would struggle to put outfits together without! Today we’re kicking things off with my favourite winter to spring transitional pieces for 2019 to help you navigate unpredictable weather in practical, stylish garments and accessories you can wear for years to come! This outfit formula works in both personal and professional settings with a few tweaks, flatters a wide range of body types and can be adapted to suit both warmer and cooler climates. PATTERN PLAY | CHAIN PRINT

Friends and fashionistas, welcome back for a fresh installment in my PATTERN PLAY series, dedicated to all things chain print! If you keep an eye on fashion trends, you’ll likely have noticed a surge of chain print trickling into your favourite retailers since the onset of autumn — and it’s hotter than ever as we transition into spring. Although this vintage feeling, designer-inspired print has always had a place in my wardrobe (namely in my vintage scarf collection!), I was thrilled to see its reemergence this season in so many fresh interpretations. That said, I always ensure trends have longevity before integrating them into my personal style and bringing them to JustineCelina — and can confidently declare that chain print here to stay!

RASPBERRY BERET

Whether you’re new to JustineCelina or have been with me for years, my love of colour is evident. In fact, it’s probably my biggest source of inspiration across content categories, in my work and in pretty much every aspect of my life! Year after year as we transition into an extremely colourless late winter, I find myself seeing through proverbial rose-coloured glasses and craving all things pink — in my wardrobe (in fact, I published a look wearing this coat exactly 1 year ago!), beauty routine and even my cocktails! This cozy, feminine, monochromatic look is an ode to my current obsession with all things burgundy and blush — capped off with a quintessential Raspberry Beret!

I’ve had this ‘outfit formula’ on repeat since the holidays and it features a handful of my winter style staples. I’m all about sharing looks I wear in my day-to-day life and this outfit formula is my first choice on cold, casual winter days when I want to be warm and comfortable while still feeling polished! WINTER 2019 LOOKBOOK

Beautiful people, I’m elated to share the first seasonal LOOKBOOK of 2019 here at JustineCelina! If you’re just tuning in and you didn’t catch my 2018 Review + 2019 Goals post last week, you may have missed the announcement that I’ll be producing one, 12 outfit LOOKBOOK seasonally this year to help inspire your sartorial choices — and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Although winter officially arrived about a month ago, we’re now in the heart of the season. Surprisingly, the weather here in Calgary has been very mild and relatively snow-free (most days have been above freezing!) — presenting some unique style options to a girl who’s used to making the most of our long, harsh Canadian winters!

With January sales in full effect and the onset of a new year, now is the perfect time to clean out your closet, identify holes in your wardrobe, get inspired and refine your personal style! As always, this LOOKBOOK features everything I’ve been wearing and loving in both personal and professional settings this season — a melange of high, low, old, new and vintage, along with tons of shoppable links at every price point! Although winter can be an uninspiring time for many in the FASHION department, I use cooler weather as an opportunity to experiment with cozy layers, sumptuous fabrics, unique textures, daring prints and a rich colour palette to create polished looks to take me from day to night. 2018 REVIEW + 2019 GOALS

Well hello, friends! It’s been a little while since I’ve posted — I took some time during the first half of this dry January (it’s actually been great!) to reflect on the past year, get re-inspired and really put some thought into what I’d like to achieve in 2019. It’s been a very valuable exercise, so thank you for your patience! Today I’m dishing on everything I’ve discovered in this real, raw, lengthy (we’re talking the longest post I’ve ever written!) read recapping 2018 and sharing my intentions, aspirations and goals for the new year — plus exactly how I plan to achieve them!

When I look back on my goals post from last year, I feel grateful to be in a much better head space and place in my life — although it was a long road to get here. Longtime readers will know I’m always very transparent about the staggering amount of work that goes into blogging, content creation and creative entrepreneurship — and from the day I stared this blog in March of 2015 through to the end of 2017, I hustled hard. As a result, I entered 2018 feeling completely burnout, uninspired and unsure of how to proceed. I knew a change was necessary for me to move forward and progress in a way that would allow for more balance and well being in my life (and therefore more inspired work), but I wasn’t exactly sure how to get there. I felt like I needed to slow down and take life as it came, rather than creating an exhaustive list of all the things I felt I needed to accomplish — and I spent 2018 doing just that. I changed course and made chasing my passions for HOME and FASHION based content my first priority, which resulted in a pretty monumental year here at JustineCelina. That said, the largest shifts I made were off of these pages, in my mental and physical health, relationships and life in general. Fast forward to January of 2019 and I’m feeling energized, more inspired and productive than ever — and ready to make 2019 my best year yet! Flower lovers, welcome back for the first post of 2018! Rebecca Dawn Design and I are kicking 2019 off with a fresh installment of DIGITAL BLOOMS celebrating the softer side of winter with a dreamy, neutral palette of blush, cream and sage juxtaposed with dramatic berry. We’re also dipping our toes into Pantone’s 2019 Colour of the Year, Living Coral — described as an animated and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge. You can still expect this post on the first of each month, however, I’ll be focusing on creating three designs to represent each season.
