COLOUR CRUSH | BLUSH

I couldn’t think of a better time than the first week of February (and during another crazy winter storm — cue eye roll!) to share my latest style obsession with you — blush! Those of you who know me in real life can attest to the fact that I’ve probably said I β€˜don’t really wear pink’ about 1000 times (I’ve even mentioned that in a few posts!) β€” but today I’m eating my words! I’m completely obsessed with all things blush right now and have had this stunning Topshop Alicia Boucle Wool Blend Coat (that I snapped up on clearance just before it sold out over the holidays!) on repeat lately, so I thought it was time to share a blush focused look with you. As I mentioned in our February DIGITAL BLOOMS, there’s definitely a bit of a theme happening here at JustineCelina this month! So, I thought it was the perfect time to revive my COLOUR CRUSH series — where I highlight an on trend colour and show you how to work it into your personal style!

If all this February snow has you craving spring’s pastels, cozy up with me on this chilly Wednesday evening and let’s chat about spring colour trends and all things blush! In this post, I’m sharing my favourite blush outerwear pieces — along with some tips on how to style blush pieces in a sophisticated way, my go-to daytime makeup look, where I snagged these gorgeous OTK Steve Madden boots for less than $50 and my favourite retailer for designer bag dupes (that’s right, this is not the real deal — and it’s under $40!). If you’re intrigued by February’s quintessential hue and have debated whether or not it’s for you or are looking for styling ideas, you’ll love today’s post!

WINTER 2018 TREND GUIDE | RED HOT

Fellow fashionistas, welcome back for the first TREND GUIDE of 2018! If the new year has you itching to upgrade your personal style or educate yourself about what’s hot this winter, you’ve come to the right place! Today I’m styling a handful of my favourite winter-to-spring trends in a colourful, artistic look — including red, chenille, berets, circular details, distressed hems and sock boots (I marched right into 2018 wearing my favourite pair!). I’m also sharing some of my favourite cold weather beauty staples and a look ahead at spring colour trends as forecasted by Pantone (because although it’s a new year, some things never change!).

Is there any better time than during an extreme cold warning to settle in for my Winter 2018 Trend Guide | Red Hot (sorry, couldn’t resist that pun!)? If you have half an hour to spare this weekend, I’d love you to join me in learning how to find the right red for your colouring, my best cold weather layering tips that won’t leave you looking overstuffed, where to score the best deals on outerwear and my favourite source for designer sunglass dupes (that’s right — mine were less than $20!). I’m also sharing how to style these key trends into spring if you’re planning ahead, or, you know, don’t live in one of the coldest places in the world. If you’re ready to inject some colour and fun to your winter wardrobe, this post is for you!

DIY | HOW TO MAKE AN ASYMMETRICAL HOLIDAY WREATH

To kick off December, I had the pleasure of attending a wreath making workshop with the lovely and talented Rebecca Dawn Design. The wine and holiday cheer were flowing — and between all the eating, drinking and being merry, I created this Asymmetrical Holiday Wreath! I took you along via Insta Stories and after lots of questions and comments about the process, I finally had some time to photograph the wreath and publish a DIY post for you (better late than never, right?!). If you have an hour to spare, you too can create this modern, Scandinavian style holiday wreath with a handful of inexpensive, easy to source materials! They also make a lovely hostess gift if you’re looking for last minute ideas with a handmade, personal touch.

This year, I’ve definitely taken a more minimalistic approach to the holidays and decorating. Since my main focus these past few months has been refreshing our living room (stay tuned for the reveal in the New Year!) and we’re out of town visiting family for the holidays, we didn’t even set up a tree! Instead we decorated our new Bird of Paradise plant with a few twinkling lights, added some cotton stems to our vases and hung this Asymmetrical Holiday Wreath! If you’re looking for a simple DIY to add a festive touch to your minimalistic decor this holiday season, a fresh wreath is the perfect addition. Our home is brimming with greenery and lots of natural wood textures with a mid century modern vibe — so I selected Cedar, Pine, Brunia, Eucalyptus pods, Red Ironbark Eucalyptus and Magnolia Leaves for our wreath (it’s also makes the living room smell amazing — no tree required!). If you’d like to learn how to make an Asymmetrical Holiday Wreath of your own, throw on your favourite Christmas playlist, settle in with a glass of your favourite festive beverage (may I suggest Classic Winter Citrus Red Sangria?) and let’s get started!

NOVEMBER 2017 BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Hey hey, you beautiful humans! Welcome back for another Monthly Beauty Favourites post — and the last one of 2017 (I’m still having a hard time believing the year is almost over!). For a completely different change of pace, my November 2017 Beauty Favourites are relatively short ‘n sweet, containing just 6 products — it was a busy month for me, with lots of events and even more behind the scenes work on some larger projects (which I’m excited to share with you in the New Year!). That said, I tend to stick with what I know beauty-wise when I’m short on time — but I did place a new Colourpop order and discovered my favourite palette of 2017 (doesn’t hurt that it’s just $16.00, either!). Last month my lip product choices were all over the map and I didn’t have a particular shade or formula I reached for consistently, but I did discover (and rediscover) a handful of body care, fragrance and nail products!

If you’re looking for some transitional beauty recommendations that will carry you through the holiday season, you’ve come to the right place! Today I’m sharing a budget friendly palette full of stunning, metallic neutrals, a glitzy, plum toned blush, the perfect cool weather polish that goes with everything, a nourishing, multi purpose oil for the hair and skin, a delicious lip scrub to give your winter pout a little extra TLC and a luxurious transitional fragrance perfect for December’s festivities. If you have a few minutes to spare on this beautiful Sunday afternoon, find a cozy reading nook and let’s dive into a few of my favourite things — I’ve even included a few holiday gifting ideas for the beauty lovers in your life!

DIGITAL BLOOMS DECEMBER 2017 | FREE DESKTOP WALLPAPERS

Friends, the last month of 2017 is upon us (say what?!?!) and that means it’s time for an extra festive edition of DIGITAL BLOOMS to send 2016 off in style! Join Rebecca Dawn Design and I in welcoming winter with a fresh selection of seasonal flowers and whimsical, holiday inspired designs. This time we’re highlighting the cooler side of the PANTONE Fall 2017 Fashion Color Report — including luxe, velvety hues of Tawny Port, Ballet Slipper, Navy Peony, Golden Lime and Marina. We hope you enjoy this refreshing change of pace from the warm, autumnal palettes we’re been working with for the last few months! December 2017’s Digital Blooms feature some of our favourite winter flowers, foliage and berries — including Anenomies, Asclepias, Astilbe, Astrantia, Knifeblade Acacia, Liqustrom, Ruby Silk Grass, Sedum and Spray Roses. Our featured Christmas tree design is also a nod to Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2017, Greenery. It was a shade I really enjoyed working with across categories here at JustineCelina this year and can’t wait for the 2018 Colour of the Year announcement (I have a feeling it’s going to be in the red family — keep your eyes peeled to my socials over the next week or so, I’ll share the news as soon as I find out!).

Click through to feast your eyes on December’s 3 free tech wallpapers and to enjoy that festive holiday feeling on background of your computer, tablet or phone into the New Year! And we’ve included another coloured background option for for my moody crowd — last month you loved our nod to Pantone’s Neutral Grey in addition to the our standard marble background, so for December we really changed things up to offer a background option inspired by Pantone’s Navy Peony. It’s an opulent, regal hue that will add a bit of visual drama to your tech as we transition into winter. Happy Holidays from Rebecca and I — we hope December’s free tech wallpapers help to make your holiday season a little more merry and bright! Thanks for hanging out with us as we celebrated each month of 2017 through nature’s most beautiful blooms and we can’t wait to share what’s in store for 2018!

AUTUMN 2017 TREND GUIDE | THAT 70’S STYLE

As someone who firmly believes they were born in the wrong decade, I’m thrilled to bring you my second AUTUMN 2017 TREND GUIDE dedicated to my love (obsession?) of 70’s inspired style! I’ve been having so much fun with fashion this season — and although I have been shopping for new items, I’ve also really been challenging myself to make the most of my existing wardrobe, get creative and revive old pieces. Today’s TREND GUIDE features a healthy mixture of old and new — unified by an eye for seasonal colour trends (why yes, I drew inspiration from the PANTONE Fall 2017 Fashion Color Report!).

Adventure to the picturesque Red Deer River valley in the heart of the wild, wild west with me today as I chat about a handful of my favourite 70’s inspired Autumn 2017 trends — including teddy bear coats, vintage fall florals, statement boots, boho (faux) leather accessories and warm toned, autumnal makeup. This TREND GUIDE also features tons of shoppable links at every price point, along with strategies for integrating seasonal trends into your your personal style and making them your own! I’m wearing a mixture of investment and affordable pieces today and have included a few tips about about how to decide what’s worth the splurge and when to save your cash, or wait for a sale. Oh, and I’m finally introducing you to my favourite vegan leather handbag brand after discovering them this summer (did I mention my bag is currently on sale for under $20?)!

OCTOBER 2017 BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Happy snowy Sunday, beautiful people! I’m elated to be curled up in a cozy sweater and fuzzy slippers with a big mug of chamomile tea this weekend working away on myΒ October 2017 Beauty Favourites post — it’s a cold one in Calgary! If you’re looking for an excuse to hole up inside and avoid stepping foot into the frigid outdoors this weekend (and getting out of your sweatpants!), you’re in luck. Pour yourself a warm cup of whatever your little heart desires (mulled wine, perhaps?!), grab your iPad, phone or snuggle up in front of your laptop with your softest throw and let’s chat autumn beauty!

October was a bit of a whirlwind — it included a lot of travel, a new haircut and desire to refresh my look, shake things up and discover new products! I had a love affair with red lips and liquid lips — and wore one red in particular most of the month whenever I felt like something bold. I also became totally smitten with a pretty autumnal shade from the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick range, continued to practically bathe in Colourpop Super Shock Highlighters, rediscovered my love for an innovative mattifying product and found an incredible, inexpensive nude eyeliner that makes my eyes look bright and awake (trust me, last month I needed all the help I could get!). In the FRAGRANCE and SKINCARE categories, I got acquainted with an ultra pampering, uplifting body soufflΓ© from Crabtree & Eveyln and reacquainted with one of my favourite autumn scents. It was somewhat of a minimalistic month for me beauty wise, as it took me awhile to figure out what worked best with my new fringe (which I’m still loving, by the way!), my eyebrows and eye makeup have definitely taken a back seat (no one can really tell I haven’t plucked or filled in my brows or spent those extra few minutes blending my eyeshadow — and it’s kind of amazing!). Let’s dive into my October 2017 Beauty Favourites, shall we?
