WINTER 2019 LOOKBOOK

Beautiful people, I’m elated to share the first seasonal LOOKBOOK of 2019 here at JustineCelina! If you’re just tuning in and you didn’t catch my 2018 Review + 2019 Goals post last week, you may have missed the announcement that I’ll be producing one, 12 outfit LOOKBOOK seasonally this year to help inspire your sartorial choices — and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Although winter officially arrived about a month ago, we’re now in the heart of the season. Surprisingly, the weather here in Calgary has been very mild and relatively snow-free (most days have been above freezing!) — presenting some unique style options to a girl who’s used to making the most of our long, harsh Canadian winters!

With January sales in full effect and the onset of a new year, now is the perfect time to clean out your closet, identify holes in your wardrobe, get inspired and refine your personal style! As always, this LOOKBOOK features everything I’ve been wearing and loving in both personal and professional settings this season — a melange of high, low, old, new and vintage, along with tons of shoppable links at every price point! Although winter can be an uninspiring time for many in the FASHION department, I use cooler weather as an opportunity to experiment with cozy layers, sumptuous fabrics, unique textures, daring prints and a rich colour palette to create polished looks to take me from day to night. You’ll find cold weather classics intermixed with a sprinkling of this season’s hottest trends, colours and a hopeful nod to spring’s blooming arrival — there’s truly something for everyone. PATTERN PLAY | SNAKESKIN

Animal print is absolutely everywhere this autumn / winter — and I personally couldn’t be happier about it! As I slithered through all the animal-inspired goodness this season brought, I have to say the print that surprised me the most was snakeskin. Snakeskin is bigger than ever for AW18 — type it into the search bar of your favourite online retailer and scale-covered options abound in nearly every garment and accessory. Admittedly, I wasn’t sure about the trend at first — but I absolutely think it can be elegant and beautiful when styled with a tasteful eye. Although I never thought you’d catch me in head-to-toe snakeskin, I’m all about experimenting with my personal style and staying inspired creatively, which is why I think it’s important to push yourself outside of your comfort zone. I was so thrilled to find a frock that I felt suited my personal style and also allowed me to dabble in a trend I wasn’t sure was for me — it’s since become one of my most worn and definitely my most complimented pieces. This post is all about empowering you to do to same! I firmly believe trends can be adapted to suit everyone’s personal style — it’s just about finding a piece that suits your lifestyle, integrates seamlessly into your wardrobe and makes you feel amazing!

WHAT TO WEAR TO | A HORSE RACE

Welcome back, friends and fashionistas! Today I’ve teamed up with Saks OFF 5TH to bring you a fresh post in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series dedicated to Horse Races — and to announce the Grand Opening of their second location at CF Market Mall! I couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with them once again to create some new style content featuring my latest OFF 5TH finds!

Earlier this summer we had the pleasure of attending Packwood Grand and to be honest, the sartorial aspect of the race excited me much more than the main event! Longtime readers will know I love any excuse to dress up and dress well (which is part of the reason I created my WHAT TO WEAR TO series in the first place!), so I took this unique event as an opportunity to deep dive into horse race appropriate attire and put my own unique spin on the dress code! After hunting for the perfect gingham dress for what seemed like an eternity, low and behold, I found it on Saks OFF 5TH‘s Calvin Klein rack — at just over 50% off, ringing in at $74.99! I’ve always been a fan of gingham and although it’s very on trend at the moment, it’s also a timeless print that lends itself to more traditional occasions and settings. WHAT TO WEAR TO | A GARDEN PARTY

Welcome back for a fresh installment in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series — where I select a seasonal occasion you may not be sure what to wear to and bring you my take on it! Believe it or not, this summer we don’t actually have any weddings (and after attending 7 last year, I’m okay with that!), but we do have quite a few garden parties and outdoor daytime events in the calendar. Although the term ‘Garden Party‘ is more widely used in the UK then it is here in Canada, we’re actually attended our fair share of garden parties (defined simply as an afternoon event held outdoors on a lawn or in a garden) over the past few years — and no one ever seems to know what the dress code is! Naturally, I thought the topic would make a great blog post — and I had just the perfect dress and location in mind to bring it to life!

I hope you’re not getting sick of seeing me in breezy floral dresses this summer, because 3rd Floor Studio‘s stunning Ingrid dress is the star of the show today! In fact, chances are if we’ve hung out IRL lately I’ve probably been wearing this dress — and this bag! While the idea of wearing florals to a garden party isn’t exactly groundbreaking, I think it’s the perfect opportunity to take your favourite LFD’s (little floral dresses!) out for a spin and have some fun styling them up with more casual, daytime accessories. Today I’m demystifying Garden Party attire and sharing versatile styling options to suit every body type, occasion and venue! Growing up on the Alberta prairies, I’ve seen my fair share of western wear over the years and it has undoubtedly shaped my personal style. I’m all about looking the part and dressing your best for any occasion — the Calgary Stampede included! These wild 10 days are packed full of incredible networking opportunities, endless parties, fanfare, live entertainment and world-class culinary experiences — and each year, I curate a few western inspired outfits with a modern, bohemian sensibility to carry me though in style. This year I’ve swapped my vintage turquoise for gold accents, my fringe bag for this blush pink beauty, my vintage cowboy boots for my favourite pair of OTK western boots and my undone braids for a flat brimmed hat, but one thing remains — the quintessential little white dress! HOW TO STYLE | MIDI DRESSES FOR WINTER

The time of year has come when winter really seems to drag on. Despite actually having pretty nice weather until late January, the past few weeks the have left a lot to be desired (I was snowed in for 3 days last week!). Mid February is typically when I start to crave the more free flowing, bohemian silhouettes and styles I love to wear during warmer weather — and this year, I was determined to wear those dresses and get really creative with my layering, despite the sub zero temps and snow storms! So today, I’m sharing a new post in my HOW TO STYLE series — and this time, I’m chatting about fresh ways to style your midi dresses for winter, incorporating a mashup of winter and spring trends with wardrobe staples in a boho chic look you can wear right now!

HOW TO STYLE | KIMONOS FOR AUTUMN

Friends, I’ve never been more excited to share a FASHION post here at JustineCelina as I am today! If you follow along via my socials, you’ll know that we took a trip to the Alberta Badlands on an unseasonably warm (and windy!) day last week to shoot some new autumn style content. This look is the first of 3 captured against this stunning landscape that will be rolling out over the next month or so — and they’re some of my favourite images we’ve ever created, fashion wise! Today’s post also marks the revival of my HOW TO STYLE series — where I take specific on-trend item that you might not think you can pull off, may be intimidated by, or may not think is wearable for a certain season. If you frequent my style archives, you’ll know just how much I love kimonos — but did you know they’re actually one of my favourite pieces to wear year round? Today I’m sharing my best tips and tricks for styling kimonos for autumn, as well as a handful of my favourite casual fall wardrobe staples!

I mentioned earlier in October that since cutting my fringe I feel completely reinspired fashion wise. I’d always wanted take a trip to the Badlands to capture style content and I figured an 18°C day in October was as good a time as any! Typically, we photograph style content as I’m actually wearing things (it’s more authentic to me that way), but I was itching to try something new. So, I packed up the car with outfits and gear — and we headed an hour northwest of my childhood home in rural Alberta to the Drumheller area for a change of scenery. As we journeyed into the desert and beautiful backdrops unfolded around every turn I marveled at how traveling just a couple of hours can really inspire the content and it’s something I want to do a lot more of in the future!
