AUTUMN 2017 TREND GUIDE | THAT 70’S STYLE

As someone who firmly believes they were born in the wrong decade, I’m thrilled to bring you my second AUTUMN 2017 TREND GUIDE dedicated to my love (obsession?) of 70’s inspired style! I’ve been having so much fun with fashion this season — and although I have been shopping for new items, I’ve also really been challenging myself to make the most of my existing wardrobe, get creative and revive old pieces. Today’s TREND GUIDE features a healthy mixture of old and new — unified by an eye for seasonal colour trends (why yes, I drew inspiration from the PANTONE Fall 2017 Fashion Color Report!).

Adventure to the picturesque Red Deer River valley in the heart of the wild, wild west with me today as I chat about a handful of my favourite 70’s inspired Autumn 2017 trends — including teddy bear coats, vintage fall florals, statement boots, boho (faux) leather accessories and warm toned, autumnal makeup. I’m wearing a mixture of investment and affordable pieces today and have included a few tips about about how to decide what’s worth the splurge and when to save your cash, or wait for a sale. Oh, and I’m finally introducing you to my favourite vegan leather handbag brand after discovering them this summer (did I mention my bag is currently on sale for under $20?)!

OCTOBER 2017 BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Happy snowy Sunday, beautiful people! I’m elated to be curled up in a cozy sweater and fuzzy slippers with a big mug of chamomile tea this weekend working away on my October 2017 Beauty Favourites post — it’s a cold one in Calgary! If you’re looking for an excuse to hole up inside and avoid stepping foot into the frigid outdoors this weekend (and getting out of your sweatpants!), you’re in luck. Pour yourself a warm cup of whatever your little heart desires (mulled wine, perhaps?!), grab your iPad, phone or snuggle up in front of your laptop with your softest throw and let’s chat autumn beauty!

October was a bit of a whirlwind — it included a lot of travel, a new haircut and desire to refresh my look, shake things up and discover new products! I had a love affair with red lips and liquid lips — and wore one red in particular most of the month whenever I felt like something bold. I also became totally smitten with a pretty autumnal shade from the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick range, continued to practically bathe in Colourpop Super Shock Highlighters, rediscovered my love for an innovative mattifying product and found an incredible, inexpensive nude eyeliner that makes my eyes look bright and awake (trust me, last month I needed all the help I could get!). In the FRAGRANCE and SKINCARE categories, I got acquainted with an ultra pampering, uplifting body soufflé from Crabtree & Eveyln and reacquainted with one of my favourite autumn scents. It was somewhat of a minimalistic month for me beauty wise, as it took me awhile to figure out what worked best with my new fringe (which I’m still loving, by the way!), my eyebrows and eye makeup have definitely taken a back seat (no one can really tell I haven’t plucked or filled in my brows or spent those extra few minutes blending my eyeshadow — and it’s kind of amazing!). OCTOBER 2017 SOUNDTRACK

Happy Halloween, everyone! I know I say this every time I publish a monthly soundtrack but I seriously can’t believe another month has flown by. October was a very full month for me in terms of content creation for JustineCelina, client work and a couple of larger projects I’ve been working on behind the scenes (that I hope to show you very soon!). I also cut a fringe and have been focusing on welcoming new experiences, projects and ideas into my life lately — hence our impromptu trip to the Alberta Badlands, where this shot was taken along side the Red Deer River near the Star Mine Suspension Bridge (isn’t the landscape absolutely stunning?)! My October 2017 Soundtrack was blasting the whole time — a chill, easy listening, 2.5 hour playlist full of good vibes to inspire your next adventure, work or anything else you need some great background music for. As per usual it’s a mash up of everything that sounded good to my ears this past month as I puttered away on various creative projects (and roadtripped all over Alberta and British Columbia!).

SUMMER 2017 MEGA SHOE GUIDE | 30 PAIRS!

Shoe lovers, you’re in for a treat today! I’m thrilled to bring you my SUMMER 2017 MEGA SHOE GUIDE — the largest SHOE GUIDE yet here at JustineCelina including 30 pairs (yes, really!) of on trend shoe options for Summer 2017. I think it’s fair to say I’m a shoe girl! I love publishing shoe related content because it’s so inclusive — everyone looks and feels great in a fantastic pair of shoes. Shoes are my favourite accessory; the right pair totally completes an outfit and gives me an extra spring in my step! And not to worry — there are lots of flat, comfortable styles included as well. NATURAL HABITAT

If you’re looking for some serenity on this Sunday afternoon you’ve come to the right place! Today’s post is a super relaxed one where I’m sharing my must-haves for natural, airy, summer style. These are the wardrobe staples I truly feel most comfortable in and like to throw on when I’m just chilling out! Whether I’m dressed up or dressed down I’ve always had a major soft spot for light, flowy fabrics and natural textures. I’ve been living in these breezy basics during my time in the prairies this summer — I know I can throw them on when comfort is a must, but so is looking cute and pulled together. I also chat about stepping up my casual shoe game and share my current favourite pair for weekend adventures! Take a break from the hustle of everyday life for a few minutes, pour yourself a cup of tea and come hang out amoung the fields of wheat and trickling streams near my childhood home in rural Alberta!

CHECK YOURSELF

If you’ve been with me for awhile, you’ve probably noticed I spend a lot of time in the prairies. While I’ve lived in Calgary for the majority of my adult life, I grew up on an acreage in rural Alberta, and my family still lives at my childhood home. The prairies are a huge part of who I am and they’ve become almost therapeutic for me over the years. They offer me space to think, space to breathe and time to reconnect with my family — which I’m very grateful for. Some weekends I pack a bag and drive out to the prairies to get away from the hustle of the city, reflect and check in with myself. The prairies are a place where my spirit feels free, inspired and grounded.
