WHAT TO WEAR TO | A HORSE RACE

Welcome back, friends and fashionistas! Today I’ve teamed up with Saks OFF 5TH to bring you a fresh post in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series dedicated to Horse Races — and to announce the Grand Opening of their second location at CF Market Mall! Saks OFF 5TH‘s newest Calgary location is open to the public on August 30th (that’s tomorrow!) and home to 800 designer brands for women, men and children. I couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with them once again to create some new style content featuring my latest OFF 5TH finds!

Earlier this summer we had the pleasure of attending Packwood Grand and to be honest, the sartorial aspect of the race excited me much more than the main event! Longtime readers will know I love any excuse to dress up and dress well (which is part of the reason I created my WHAT TO WEAR TO series in the first place!), so I took this unique event as an opportunity to deep dive into horse race appropriate attire and put my own unique spin on the dress code! After hunting for the perfect gingham dress for what seemed like an eternity, low and behold, I found it on Saks OFF 5TH‘s Calvin Klein rack — at just over 50% off, ringing in at $74.99! I’ve always been a fan of gingham and although it’s very on trend at the moment, it’s also a timeless print that lends itself to more traditional occasions and settings. So, I styled my darling Calvin Klein Gingham Wrap Dress up for the races — and today, you’re coming along! WHAT TO WEAR TO | A GARDEN PARTY

Welcome back for a fresh installment in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series — where I select a seasonal occasion you may not be sure what to wear to and bring you my take on it! Believe it or not, this summer we don’t actually have any weddings (and after attending 7 last year, I’m okay with that!), but we do have quite a few garden parties and outdoor daytime events in the calendar. Although the term ‘Garden Party‘ is more widely used in the UK then it is here in Canada, we’re actually attended our fair share of garden parties (defined simply as an afternoon event held outdoors on a lawn or in a garden) over the past few years — and no one ever seems to know what the dress code is! Naturally, I thought the topic would make a great blog post — and I had just the perfect dress and location in mind to bring it to life!

I hope you’re not getting sick of seeing me in breezy floral dresses this summer, because 3rd Floor Studio‘s stunning Ingrid dress is the star of the show today! In fact, chances are if we’ve hung out IRL lately I’ve probably been wearing this dress — and this bag! While the idea of wearing florals to a garden party isn’t exactly groundbreaking, I think it’s the perfect opportunity to take your favourite LFD’s (little floral dresses!) out for a spin and have some fun styling them up with more casual, daytime accessories. Today I’m demystifying Garden Party attire and sharing versatile styling options to suit every body type, occasion and venue! The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth is just around the corner — and today, in partnership with Saks OFF 5TH, I’m thrilled to bring you an updated What to Wear to | The Calgary Stampede post! Longtime readers will know how passionate I am about fully embracing the unique sartorial opportunities the Stampede provides. Growing up on the Alberta prairies, I’ve seen my fair share of western wear over the years and it has undoubtedly shaped my personal style. I’m all about looking the part and dressing your best for any occasion — the Calgary Stampede included! These wild 10 days are packed full of incredible networking opportunities, endless parties, fanfare, live entertainment and world-class culinary experiences — and each year, I curate a few western inspired outfits with a modern, bohemian sensibility to carry me though in style. If you’re looking for some fresh Stampede fashion ideas for both personal and professional settings, I’ve totally got you covered!

This year I’ve swapped my vintage turquoise for gold accents, my fringe bag for this blush pink beauty, my vintage cowboy boots for my favourite pair of OTK western boots and my undone braids for a flat brimmed hat, but one thing remains — the quintessential little white dress! Many of you came along on my Saks OFF 5TH shopping trip at Cross Iron Mills via Insta Stories earlier this month as I sourced items for this look. I found so many incredible pieces (I actually ended up purchasing a few other items that will be trickling into my style content soon!), but this sweet, flowy little alice + olivia Danna Lace Inset Dress stole my heart! And you know I love a good deal, so I was ecstatic to score it for 60% off (at $147.99 from $370!). MY 3RD BLOGIVERSARY + 10 THINGS I LEARNED IN MY THIRD YEAR OF BLOGGING

Friends, welcome back for my annual (and very belated!) Blogiversary celebration! My 3rd Blogiversary went roaring by on March 2nd — but to be honest, I was completely engrossed in our Living Room Reveal and some other fun, last minute projects at the time. Earlier this year I chatted about changing things up around here and creating space to let life happen — and that’s exactly what I’ve done! There’s been a lot happening here at JustineCelina lately as we get ready to reveal the next rooms in our SPACE REFRESH series (coming your way later this month!) and I simply had to prioritize my time differently to make this all possible. March was one of my most creatively fulfilling months of my life — it left me completely exhausted but also incredibly inspired! In the two months since My 3rd Blogiversary I’ve reached some milestones I’ve dreamed of achieving since launching JustineCelina and they’ve reminded me exactly why I started this whole thing in the first place. So, although it’s a bit late and I’ve been chipping away at this post when I can, I couldn’t be more thrilled to share this Pantone Spring 2018 inspired 3rd Blogiversary soirée with you!

In the midst of it all, I came up with the concept for this celebratory post pretty last minute — about 10 days before the shoot (which, admittedly, was about 2 months ago!). It was so spontaneous, but serendipitous and things just fell into place (I shot it myself one sunny Friday afternoon with my tripod and self timer). This year, we’re going all out — because after 323 blog posts, almost a million views (OMG!), 180 000 images, 2 900 comments and a whole lot of blood, sweat and tears (quite literally), I truly never thought I’d get here! My third year was one of intense growth, both on these pages and off of them — I hope you enjoy reading about 10 Things I Learned in my Third Year of Blogging in this raw, honest, unabashed post (you may need a sparkling glass of rosé to get though it!). Whether you’re new to JustineCelina (and there are a lot of you beautiful people — welcome!) or have been with me since the very beginning, I’m so grateful to have you here celebrating with me today!

DIGITAL BLOOMS APRIL 2018 | FREE DESKTOP WALLPAPERS + DIGITAL BLOOMS TURNS 2!

Happy April 1st, friends! Today marks 2 years since Rebecca Dawn Design and I teamed up to create the first edition of DIGITAL BLOOMS for you — that means we’ve created 72 free tech wallpapers to date! Rebecca and I started working together around my 1st Blogiversary to bring FLOWER content to JustineCelina and make flower education accessible — and we haven’t looked back since. Our free tech wallpapers have since become some of my most popular content — and we’re thrilled you enjoy them just as much as we enjoy creating them for you!

This month, we’ve gone monochromatic — and it’s all about lavender, shades of purple and the 2018 Pantone Colour of the Year, Ultra Violet! If you’re not quite convinced you can pull off one of spring’s hottest colour trends in your wardrobe (although, I bet you totally can!), why not take it for a test drive on the background of your computer, tablet or phone this month? ROSE INFUSED CHERRY GIN FIZZ

Remember the summer I acquired a taste for gin? It’s since become my favourite spirit. In fact, around this time last year I even ventured to Vancouver Island to track down an infamous local gin unavailable in Alberta (I also made a cocktail with that one!). Although the gin I brought home from my coastal travels is long gone, late last year I stumbled on Eau Claire Distillery via Instagram (their bottles are gorgeous and totally drew me in!). Imagine my surprise to find out we have an incredible, award winning distillery less than an hour from home! Over the holidays I took a trip to the visit their distillery in Turner Valley with my Mom (who loves gin) and my brother (who was home from New York and loves cocktails) for a tour and tasting — and we were all completely blown away by the quality of Eau Claire’s hand crafted offerings and their farm to glass approach. Now that I know they exist (and they’re local!) I actually can’t fathom using anything else in my cocktails! Over the last couple of months, we’ve padded our bar with several of Eau Claire’s artisinal spirits — including their most recent offering, Cherry Gin.

In honour of love day, I’m so excited to share my Rose Infused Cherry Gin Fizz! This feminine, fruity and lightly floral cocktail combines Eau Claire’s stunning Cherry Gin with my favourite Prosecco, a splash of fresh lemon juice and a Rose & Pink Peppercorn Infused Honey Simple Syrup for a contemporary spin on the classic French 75. Hey, hey flower friends! After my last post, I’m very excited to get some more lighthearted content out today! Love month is upon us — and Rebecca Dawn Design are celebrating the best way we know how — by sharing 3 free, Valentine’s Day inspired floral tech wallpapers with you! Last February, we created a special Love Edition set of DIGITAL BLOOMS prominently featuring roses — and they’ve become our most downloaded set to date. Due to overwhelming popularity, we’re keeping the love inspired theme going this year — but we’re working with more than just roses!
