LATE SUMMER 2019 LOOKBOOK

With 3 weeks of summer still to savour, I’m back today with my Late Summer 2019 Lookbook! We started shooting this mammoth project mid-June — and although it’s taken quite some time to process the 2700+ images we took (these LOOKBOOK are definitely labours of love!), I’m absolutely elated to share this 12 outfit, late summer style guide with you today! As usual, it features everything I’ve been wearing and loving in both personal and professional settings over the last couple of months — plus innovative styling tips to help you extend the life of your summer wardrobe as we transition into autumn! My Late Summer 2019 Lookbook is complete with a healthy dose of seasonal trends, plus practical tips on how to wear them into fall, mixed with transitional wardrobe staples and shoppable links at every pricepoint (plus, insider tips about where to score the best end-of-season sales!).

Since I live in a climate where there’s snow covering the ground for 7+ months of the year, I love to make the most of my summer wardrobe (and put as many miles on my open-toed shoes as possible!) while the weather cooperates! Once of my favourite ways to blend summer and autumn is with colour — recently I’ve been really inspired by the Pantone Autumn/Winter 2019/2020 Fashion Colour Trend Report and am taking cues for my transitional style. As always, you can expect a mash-up of high, low, old, new and vintage in my Late Summer 2019 Lookbook — with the beautiful Alberta prairies and badlands as our backdrop! If you’re getting ready to transition your wardrobe into a new season but still hanging onto summer you’re in the right place — I’m dishing on how to blend the best of both seasons in this practical, FASHION-forward guide for style savvy.

JUNE 2018 SOUNDTRACK

Happy Canada Day long weekend, friends! What’s everyone up to? We’re enjoying some time with my family in the country — enjoy the tranquility of the prairies and doing some cocktail testing (get ready for a refreshing summer recipe coming your way later this month!). Whatever your Canada Long Weekend holds, I have the ultimate soundtrack for you! My June 2018 Soundtrack includes over 3 hours of easy listening grooves spanning genres — with a healthy dose of folky, bluegrass inspired vibes thrown in for good measure. I recently discovered Spotify’s Stay Wild playlist and it decorated the majority of this past week while I worked away on the second installment of my What to Wear to | The Calgary Stampede post — hence the uptick of tasteful twang at the tail end of this playlist!

While I love every track in include in these Monthly Soundtracks, this month, SACRE’s Lemonade, Polo & Pan’s Arc-en-ciel, Mura Kami’s Your Voice, AQUA STONE THRONE’S 3 Ways, Tadashi’s When You’re Ready, L’indécis’s God Behind The Pines, Bath’s Extra Solar, Alina Baraz’s I Don’t Even Know Why Though, The American Dollar’s Carousel (a new-to-me band with an Explosion’s In The Sky vibe!), Coubo’s Good Morning, The East Pointer’s Two Weeks, Sony Alven’s remix of Boardwalk, Yoke Lore’s Beige and PYNKIE’s Dew. Wishing you all a fun (and safe!) Canada Day long weekend!

SPRING EQUINOX KIWI ELDERFLOWER SMASH

Happy first weekend of spring, friends! Wow — what a crazy, whirlwind week this has been. Between publishing our Living Room Reveal on Monday, my Style Me Pretty Living feature on Wednesday (pinch me!), a very exciting FASHION announcement (which has now published!), to a jam packed calendar full of events and meetings, plus 8 rounds of testing for this recipe (and subsequent cocktail ingredient runs before noon!), I’m finally getting a fresh cocktail for you this weekend. Initially this recipe was supposed to publish on Wednesday to welcome the first day of spring, so let’s just say my Spring Equinox Kiwi Elderflower Smash is fashionably late (like our spring weather) — but she comes bearing gifts! I’ve teamed up with Eau Claire Distillery once again to give away a full sized bottle of Prickly Pear EquineOx to one of you lovely Canadians (check out the bottom of the post for details on how to enter!).

After a long, snow covered winter, I’m elated to unleash my Spring Equinox Kiwi Elderflower Smash — a post-hibernation celebration of spring’s refreshing flavours in cocktail form! I figured it was time to pump the brakes on the gin train (let’s be real… there’s been a ton of gin drinking going down here at JustineCelina!) and introduce you to a completely unique spirit to welcome spring’s arrival. Today I’m working with Eau Claire Distillery’s award winning Prickly Pear EquineOx — a sweet, lightly citrusy, barley based vodka incorporating Alberta’s Prickly Pear Cactus with a special blend of spring botanicals. Complimented by a refreshing bouquet of elderflower, kiwi, lime, a kiss of wine, a dash of bitters and a splash of soda, I’ve created a seasonal elixir that pairs perfectly with longer evenings and balmier weather. I’ve also teamed up with 4 talented food bloggers across North America to bring you the Spring 2018 Edition of Connecting Over Cocktails! If you’re looking for some inspired cocktail ideas as we transition into spring, we’re totally got you covered — stay tuned to see what my fellow Food Bloggers of Canada are mixing up for you this weekend!

HOW TO STYLE | MIDI DRESSES FOR WINTER

The time of year has come when winter really seems to drag on. Despite actually having pretty nice weather until late January, the past few weeks the have left a lot to be desired (I was snowed in for 3 days last week!). Mid February is typically when I start to crave the more free flowing, bohemian silhouettes and styles I love to wear during warmer weather — and this year, I was determined to wear those dresses and get really creative with my layering, despite the sub zero temps and snow storms! So today, I’m sharing a new post in my HOW TO STYLE series — and this time, I’m chatting about fresh ways to style your midi dresses for winter, incorporating a mashup of winter and spring trends with wardrobe staples in a boho chic look you can wear right now!

So ladies, dust off your midi dresses (mine is on clearance for just $19!) and come hang out with me for a little while on this snowy long weekend as I share my favourite outfit building tips, styling hacks and winter layering techniques to keep you feeling stylish and cozy at the same time! I’m also chatting about a handful of Winter / Spring 2018 trends — including 60’s inspired florals, teddy textures, fringe, longline layers, scrunched boots and a few of my favourite transitional beauty products. I hope this post inspires you to reconsider taking those all those gorgeous dresses lingering in the depths of your closet out for a pre-spring spin this February! If you’re stuck in a fashion rut somewhere between winter and spring, this post is for you!

AUTUMN / WINTER 2017 TREND GUIDE | FALLING FOR FLORALS

Fellow fashionistas, welcome back for my third AW17 TREND GUIDE and final set of photos we shot in the Alberta Badlands — this time, at dusk! Tonight I’m thrilled to share a bit of an edgier look than you’re typically used to seeing here at JustineCeina, but as I mentioned, I’ve been totally reinspired fashion wise this autumn and really experimenting with my personal style (and having tons of fun in the process!). It was also a lot of fun to experiment with different lighting conditions — since we shot this look in the last 15 minutes before the sunset, these photos have a bit of a moodier vibe to them. I think it suits the outfit perfectly!

Tonight I’m Falling for Florals all over again and styling a selection of seasonal trends through fresh eyes — including autumn / winter florals, soft leather, velvet, faux fur, circular shades and red. If you’re looking to elevate your personal style or refresh some wardrobe staples as we transition into winter, this post is for you! Tonight I’m wearing a both old and new favourites — this is a look I’ve worn quite a few times this season and received tons of questions about. If you’ve always wanted to explore moody florals, find your perfect (faux) leather jacket or red lip and aren’t sure where to start, you’ve come to the right place! Pour yourself a delicious glass of vino (or fix yourself big mug of herbal tea!) and get cozy for an in depth style chat, complete with tons of shoppable links and alternatives for every price point and body type (would you believe my dress is under $30?!).

AUTUMN 2017 TREND GUIDE | THAT 70’S STYLE

As someone who firmly believes they were born in the wrong decade, I’m thrilled to bring you my second AUTUMN 2017 TREND GUIDE dedicated to my love (obsession?) of 70’s inspired style! I’ve been having so much fun with fashion this season — and although I have been shopping for new items, I’ve also really been challenging myself to make the most of my existing wardrobe, get creative and revive old pieces. Today’s TREND GUIDE features a healthy mixture of old and new — unified by an eye for seasonal colour trends (why yes, I drew inspiration from the PANTONE Fall 2017 Fashion Color Report!).

Adventure to the picturesque Red Deer River valley in the heart of the wild, wild west with me today as I chat about a handful of my favourite 70’s inspired Autumn 2017 trends — including teddy bear coats, vintage fall florals, statement boots, boho (faux) leather accessories and warm toned, autumnal makeup. This TREND GUIDE also features tons of shoppable links at every price point, along with strategies for integrating seasonal trends into your your personal style and making them your own! I’m wearing a mixture of investment and affordable pieces today and have included a few tips about about how to decide what’s worth the splurge and when to save your cash, or wait for a sale. Oh, and I’m finally introducing you to my favourite vegan leather handbag brand after discovering them this summer (did I mention my bag is currently on sale for under $20?)!

OCTOBER 2017 SOUNDTRACK

Happy Halloween, everyone! I know I say this every time I publish a monthly soundtrack but I seriously can’t believe another month has flown by. October was a very full month for me in terms of content creation for JustineCelina, client work and a couple of larger projects I’ve been working on behind the scenes (that I hope to show you very soon!). I also cut a fringe and have been focusing on welcoming new experiences, projects and ideas into my life lately — hence our impromptu trip to the Alberta Badlands, where this shot was taken along side the Red Deer River near the Star Mine Suspension Bridge (isn’t the landscape absolutely stunning?)! My October 2017 Soundtrack was blasting the whole time — a chill, easy listening, 2.5 hour playlist full of good vibes to inspire your next adventure, work or anything else you need some great background music for. As per usual it’s a mash up of everything that sounded good to my ears this past month as I puttered away on various creative projects (and roadtripped all over Alberta and British Columbia!).

October’s standout tracks include Rostam’s Bike Dream, Broken Social Scene’s Protest Song, Matt DiMona’s Old School Turn Tables, Louis The Child and Ashe’s Right To It, Krrum’s Get The Girl, Wild Front’s Southside, Aisha Badru’s Mind on Fire, Sylvan Esso’s Rhye remixed Die Young, the Marian Hill Remix of Electric with Khalid and Alina Baraz, Kygo and Jason Walker’s Sunrise, Netherfriends Ride or Vibe, ICELANDIA’s Magic, Koresma’s The Overlook, Airia’s Without You Here and Utah’s People of the Future. Happy listening!
