Have you seen this gorgeous, fluffy grass floating around all over your favourite social media platform lately and wondered what it is and where you can get yourself some?! Me too, my friend! In fact, my recent obsession with these beautiful, bohemian plumes has inspired a fresh installment in my ALL ABOUT series — and this time, it’s All About Pampas Grass! You’ve likely seen a surge of pampas trickle into my recent content — I’ve been working with it since the holidays and have since incorporated it into nearly every room in our home (the obsession is real!). Typically my ALL ABOUT series is reserved for FLOWERS, but dried arrangements, grasses and foliage are having a major moment this year — so I’ve expanded!
If you’re intrigued by Pampas Grass and want to know where to purchase it, how much it costs and how to condition it to it to keep it from shedding, consider my All About Pampas Grass post your one-stop educational resource to learn everything you ever wanted to know about this popular plume. Today we’re chatting alternate names and meanings, where to purchase locally as well as online, varieties available, vase life, what to look for when purchasing, how to care for and condition your Pampas Grass so you can enjoy it for years to come. I’m also sharing some dried arrangement tips and innovative ideas on how to incorporate Pampas Grass into your decor. Fellow boho lovers, pour yourself a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and settle in for a relaxing read as we cover all things pampas — my favourite ornamental grass!
Merry Christmas Eve, friends! Can you believe we’ve nearly made it to the end of 2020? What a year it’s been. Despite everything that’s happened and how different this season looks, it always brings me great joy to prepare our home for the holidays — and tonight I’m thrilled to share our Mid Century Meets Boho Holiday Decor! Even though it will just be the two of us this Christmas, I knew I wanted to keep things fun, fresh and festive this holiday season. This is our third year decorating our recently refreshed inner city Calgary apartment for the holidays — although our holiday decor went up much later than I originally intended (I ordered a tree at the beginning of November that just arrived just last week — how quintessentially 2020!), we love the way it came together. In fact, I think this year’s holiday decor may just be my favourite yet! As always, I mixed high, low, old and new to infuse the apartment with Christmas spirit — and today I’m detailing exactly how I pulled it all together!
Whether you’ve been with me here at JustineCelina for years or have just recently joined (welcome!), you’ll know I’m all about finding creative ways to make my favourite pieces feel fresh again — be it in my home or in your wardrobe. That said, given the state of the world (and in light of the current restrictions here in Alberta), I knew didn’t want to rely on having to shop in person for our holiday tree this year. So, instead of purchasing fresh tree as we’ve done in years past, I decided to have some fun with it and ordered a flocked artificial tree — and I adore the effect! Other than our tree and a few small decor pieces, everything else we’ve owned for years. As we live in an apartment with limited storage, it’s simply not practical for us to purchase entirely new decor each season (but to be honest, I don’t think that’s practical for anyone!). If you’re in search of some creative holiday DIYs and boho Christmas decorating ideas, you’ve come to the right place — join me for a glass of bubbly as I share how I created a warm, modern and inviting holiday atmosphere in our home this season!
In preparation for the holidays each year, I relish in the process of pouring over all the festive content I’ve created here at JustineCelina over the past 5 years to get inspired (now 25 posts and counting!). Given all the challenges 2020 has presented, I wasn’t surprised to see my holiday content trending earlier than ever, as people seem to be craving an an extra dose of joy this season. So, I thought it was the perfect time to update my Ultimate Holiday Inspiration Roundup post, featuring a collection of my favourite holiday-themed posts across categories, for easy browsing reference! Although this Christmas in quarantine is unlike any we’ve experienced before, I’m committed to finding joy, continuing to create and make things beautiful, embracing new traditions and making new at-home memories — and I hope I can inspire you to do the same. If you’re looking for creative, fun and attainable ideas to inspire you to eat, drink, DIY, decorate, entertain (within your own household!), dress and glam in style this holiday season, you’ve come to the right place!
Whether you’re in search of modern decor ideas, casual holiday-at-home outfit ideas, how to choose the perfect red lip, gift ideas for the ladies in your life, easy cocktails or plant-based festive recipes, simple DIY projects, flower arranging tips, or entertaining inspiration for 2 – 4, I’ve got you covered! You know the drill — put on your coziest robe, pour yourself a delicious glass of your favourite festive libation (may I suggest my Homemade Dairy Free Coconut Rum Eggnog?) and cozy up with me to celebrate the holidays JustineCelina style. In need of some relaxing tunes for your next cozy evening in? Well friends, I have just the playlist! Indulge your ears in my November 2020 Soundtrack — featuring 3 hours of easy listening, ultra chill, electronic, jazzy, ambient, indie and alternative grooves to perfectly compliment a bottle of Pinot Noir in front of the fireplace. This familiar scene from our Living Room is what almost every single weekend evening has looked like since March — and although I do miss a lot of things about our life pre-COVID, I’m so grateful for this little piece of serenity amidst a chaotic world. I’ve come to treasure our quarantine Friday evenings when we put the fire on, open a bottle of wine and get lost in the world of music! MUSIC has always been an integral part of my life — and I hope my MONTHLY SOUNTRACKS bring you a bit of extra peace and joy to help ease these difficult times. These 56 tracks have been my musical therapy through a tumultuous month!
Fall is my favourite time of year for many reasons — but something I look forward to each year is pulling out all my favourite warm, cozy lip colours (and trying a few new ones!) to mark the change in seasons. Last autumn as I was organizing my vanity for the season, I noticed a major theme — all of my most-worn autumn lip colours had a very similar, pumpkin spice inspired colour story (yes, I actually began working on My Top 5 Pumpkin Spice Lipsticks post last fall!). Although I may be the only woman on the planet who isn’t into Pumpkin Spice Lattes (shocking, I know!), I can definitely appreciate the inspiration behind this quintessentially autumnal beverage. So naturally, I thought this concept would make a fantastic addition to my seasonal BEAUTY content here at JustineCelina! I absolutely love to embrace each season as fully as possible — whether it be in my personal style, beauty routine, home or what I choose to nourish my body with. While a lot has changed in 2020, my love of fall beauty remains — and although I’m not wearing as much makeup as I did pre-pandemic (or getting glammed up nearly as often), I still love to treat myself to a beautiful, seasonal makeup application for an instant confidence boost. I hope I can inspire you to do the same, as my makeup routine has remained one of my most cherished forms of self care over the years!
Today I’m thrilled to share My Top 5 Pumpkin Spice Lipsticks featuring my top shelf autumn lip products ranging in formula across price points — from long wearing (and mask-friendly) liquid lipsticks to nourishing natural products, to elegant hybrid formulas! If you’ve been browsing my recent STYLE content and wanting to learn more about what’s on my lips (I’ve been dropping major hints this post was coming!), you’ll find all the information you’re looking for in today’s post. As always, this dedicated review post in my recently introduced MY TOP 5 series is brimming with try-on photos, swatches and application tips — plus my top lip liner recommendations to pair with each shade to create a full, defined pout! If you’re ready to spice up your lipstick wardrobe for cooler months ahead, you’ve come to the right place — throw on your coziest sweater and curl up in your favourite reading nook with a seasonal beverage for a serious dose of inclusive, autumnal beauty inspiration. I also share my complete camera-ready fall beauty routine (sprinkled with tons of shoppable links) when I’m craving a dose of glamour!
Interior design lovers, I’m thrilled to welcome you back into our sun drenched Living Room for my first dedicated DWELL post of 2020 — in fact, it’s been almost a year since my last! So what exactly have I been up to around here? Well, to be completely transparent, all the brand partnerships I had lined up for our SPACE REFRESH series this year were postponed (some indefinitely) due to COVID. I had so many plans for our remaining rooms, along with updates to spaces you’ve already seen, but due to the current situation, they simply haven’t been possible. Instead, I’ve been focusing on making small tweaks and seasonal updates to already finished spaces so that we can fully enjoy them with all the extra time we’ve spent at home! I’m allowing things to come together naturally, ideas to ebb and flow organically and working away on our home when I feel inspired to do so — because if 2020 has taught me anything, it’s that life doesn’t always go according to plan. Lately I’ve been cozying things up for autumn, picking up a few new key pieces and restyling items we already own in new ways, so I thought it was about time I share our Transitional Summer Meets Autumn Decor with you here at JustineCelina, if you’re doing the same and looking for inspiration!
This year we’ve opted to keep things lighter and brighter as we transition into a new season — and it feels like a perfect blend of summer and fall. It’s the magical time of year where we can enjoy the best of both summer and autumn out in nature, in our homes, on our plates and in our wardrobes — and I’m fully embracing it! Despite 2020’s challenges, we’ve experienced the warmest autumn I can remember — and I’ve definitely channeled that inspiration into our home this season. I love to experiment with juxtaposition in my personal style and in my home — I’m all about mixing high with low, old with new and modern with traditional. Each year, my inspiration hits an all time high as summer blends into autumn and I explore new ways to translate this seasonal shift into our inner city Calgary apartment! Fall decor doesn’t have to be expensive, overwhelming or impractical — and today I’ve rounded up all my best transitional decorating tips and favourite sources for affordable, quality pieces to refresh your space. If you’re a fellow apartment dweller, working with a small space (or a modest budget!), you’ve come to the right place — pour yourself a glass of crisp rosé and curl up on the sofa as I share our Transitional Summer Meets Autumn Decor!
