Welcome back for another installment in my Beauty 101 series! I get a lot of questions about my hair, so today’s post covers everything I know about how to get long, strong, healthy hair. Did you know I’ve had just about every haircolour imaginable over the years — even green and purple as a teenager? In my lifetime I’ve coloured my hair with Kool Aid, Sun In (yikes… anyone else remember those days?!) and many other drugstore and professional colours. I worked at a hair salon throughout college, so I do have a good foundational knowledge of hair in addition to what I’ve learned on my own. In the past 10 years my hair has been every shade of red, blonde, ombre and brunette — it was fun to experiment and see what I liked best on myself. But all those years of colouring and heavy heat styling definitely did a number on my super fine hair! Over the years I’ve transitioned back to my natural haircolour and my hair is finally healthy again — but it’s been a long road to get here. Stay tuned for a crash course in Haircare 101 plus my tips for long, strong, healthy hair!
vintage
Feeling crafty this weekend? Today I’m showing you how to rough up a pair of denim to achieve the distressed look we’re seeing everywhere this spring! The best part about distressing a pair of jeans you currently own is the denim is already perfectly worn in — and you can totally customize it to your preference! I’ve owned this pair of jeans for about 6 years, but they’re a little too short for me to wear with heels, so I figured I’d get a lot more wear out of them if I distressed them and cropped them a bit. Voila — now I have the perfect pair of spring boyfriends, and I’ve been wearing them constantly! You only need about an hour and a few tools to complete this DIY (and you probably have the tools at home)! Stay tuned for an easy, illustrated, step-by-step guide to creating a distressed pair of boyfriend jeans yourself.
As someone who’s very attuned to branding, art direction and design, I love it when a company totally nails it. Enter the truly stunning Oatbox. When I was presented with the opportunity to try Oatbox, the brand immediately captured my attention because they’re doing things a little bit differently. As a busy person who loves clean breakfasts, whole foods and granola (but doesn’t always have time to make my own), Oatbox‘s product offering sounded right up my alley. Each month they deliver fresh, healthy granola mixes inspired by the season and prepared by Montreal chefs, right to your doorstep. Everything about my experience with Oatbox was outstanding — from my introduction to the brand, to unwrapping my box, to the absolutely delicious granola. These guys really care about the details. Plus, for every box shipped, they donate $1 to the Breakfast Club of Canada. If you love artisinal granola, thoughtful details and supporting businesses that give back, read on for my favourite way to enjoy Oatbox‘s featured flavours!
JANUARY BEAUTY FAVOURITES
There’s nothing like going through your whole makeup stash for a yearly beauty favourites post to discover some new favourites and inspire you! In January I was all over the map in terms of the colours I wore, and it was a very experimental month for me, makeup wise. Since I come from an artistic background (if you didn’t know, I went to art college), I approach my makeup like I would a painting or drawing — I’m just painting and drawing on my face! I’ve always loved beauty so much because it’s a way for me to combine my passions. Like fashion, it’s a form of self-expression for me. I was the little girl who was always playing around in my Mom’s makeup, and giving friends makeovers during my adolescence! My January 2016 Beauty Favourites are full of rich, warm shades, violets and rosy hues. I also discovered a very natural-looking, gradual self tanner that gives you a the perfect amount of colour for winter!

Are you in the holiday spirit yet?! This has been such a busy month for me, and the weather has been so nice that it’s hard to believe it’s almost that time of year! Today I’m sharing my favourite timeless pieces to wear during the holidays. For me, the holidays are all about spending time with friends and family, and winding down. While I love to get glammed up for holiday parties, today’s post is about those classic style staples that you can wear to casual get togethers and family dinners — occasions when you still want to look cute and festive, but be comfortable.
