JUNE 2019 SOUNDTRACK

Need a fresh playlist for Canada Day Long Weekend? My June 2019 Soundtrack has you covered — featuring an hour and a half of lighthearted, chill, easy-listening grooves (with a few hip-hop curveballs thrown in for good measure!). No matter what you’re up to this weekend, my favourite tracks from this June are perfect to throw on anytime, anywhere. Now, let’s just hope the sunshine holds out!

Although I discovered lots of new artists and tracks this month, I had Philip Larue’s West Coast, Rojyr’s Kenji, Kina Granis’s In The Waiting – Reimagined, Tony Velour’s Moment, Justin King’s Tennis Court, Jameson Flood’s Every Night, Runner’s Eggshell, ØDYSSEE’s Remember Me, Drake and Rock Ross’s Money in the Grave, EXES and Jome’s One Day, swim good now and Kogane’s Grand Beach and tons of Far Caspian on repeat. Wishing all my Canadian friends a fun and safe long weekend!

DIY | MODERN DRIFTWOOD MACRAME WALL HANGING

I’m riding that just-back-from-vacation-and-feeling-so-inspired wave and coming at you today with a fresh, completely impromptu DIY post! During our recent getaway, our Kootenay cabin was perched on the most beautiful beach with troves of driftwood washed up on shore — and I finally found the perfect piece to complete the large macrame wall hanging I’ve been planning since winter! Immediately after arriving home on Saturday, I got to work on this Modern Driftwood Macrame Wall Hanging, modelling it after the original I created for our refreshed Living Room (which has become one of my most popular DIYs!). Since I was enjoying a little staycation last weekend (I didn’t open my computer or socials for one whole week and it was just what I needed!) I wasn’t actually planning to share this post here at JustineCelina, but after snapping a few process photos over on Insta Stories I was flooded with DMs and questions about how exactly I made it. And here we are!

You may be surprised to learn this oversized macrame wall hanging is actually quite a simple and inexpensive project. The materials to create this 7′ x 3.5′ modern wall hanging cost a whopping $66 and it took me a few hours from start to finish, including installation. If you’re curious about how I pulled it off, you’re in luck — this post contains  step-by-step, visual instructions showing you exactly how I made this bohemian beauty! If you’re looking for a fun weekend project to adorn the walls of your home or for a unique gift idea (a friend of mine created one for a baby shower!) pour yourself a cup of coffee, pull up a seat at my Dining Room table and let’s get crafty!

APRIL 2019 SOUNDTRACK

Despite best laid plans, April always seems to be our busiest month. Although I’m committed to my goal of 5+ blog posts monthly in 2019 (read more about my goals and what I’ve been working on BTS), things have been quiet here at JustineCelina since mid-month — and for good reason! Between tax season (I went to art school, but thankfully Adam is an accountant!), tail ends of client projects, Easter and a lot of planning for upcoming partnerships, the past 2 weeks have been incredibly busy. I had a few posts scheduled, but it was a much more productive use of time to prioritize the business side of things while staying on top of my health and wellness (I’ve also still managed 3+ workout per week!). There were a lot of late nights and early mornings this month with ultra chill, relaxing, ambient tunes streaming through my speakers — and I’ve channeled them all into my April 2019 Soundtrack!

Without a doubt, this is definitely the chillest playlist I’ve ever published. I’m constantly listening to music while I work away — reading, writing, editing, planning, designing, photographing, conceptualizing (and list goes on!). This is why I gravitate towards music that encourages creative thought with minimal lyrics — and I discovered tons of new Spotify playlists to help keep my mind calm and focused. I’ve pulled my favourite tracks into this mellow, feel-good, 55 track playlist — if you’ve got a massive to-do list to tackle and are looking for some inspiring tunes to decorate your time, this soundtrack is for you!

ALL ABOUT PAMPAS GRASS

Have you seen this gorgeous, fluffy grass floating around all over your favourite social media platform lately and wondered what it is and where you can get yourself some?! Me too, my friend! In fact, my recent obsession with these beautiful, bohemian plumes has inspired a fresh installment in my ALL ABOUT series — and this time, it’s All About Pampas Grass! You’ve likely seen a surge of pampas trickle into my recent content — I’ve been working with it since the holidays and have since incorporated it into nearly every room in our home (the obsession is real!). Typically my ALL ABOUT series is reserved for FLOWERS, but dried arrangements, grasses and foliage are having a major moment this year — so I’ve expanded!

If you’re intrigued by Pampas Grass and want to know where to purchase it, how much it costs and how to condition it to it to keep it from shedding, consider my All About Pampas Grass post your one-stop educational resource to learn everything you ever wanted to know about this popular plume. Today we’re chatting alternate names and meanings, where to purchase locally as well as online, varieties available, vase life, what to look for when purchasing, how to care for and condition your pampas so you can enjoy it for years to come. I’m also sharing some dried arrangement tips and innovative ideas on how to incorporate Pampas Grass into your decor. Fellow boho lovers, pour yourself a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and settle in for a relaxing read as we cover all things pampas — my favourite ornamental grass!

FEBRUARY 2019 SOUNDTRACK

The shortest (and coldest!) month of the year is drawing to a close — and that means it’s time for my February 2019 Soundtrack! This cozy, intimate, 43 track playlist makes perfect background music for the office, your daily commute, relaxing at home or entertaining. It’s an eclectic, upbeat, chill mixture of everything I’ve had on repeat for the past month spanning genres — with a heavy focus on instrumental with a free spirited, folk-y twist!

I discovered tons of new tracks during February (and new music from a few of my favourite artists!), but Beauvois’s Fall Back, Anna of the North’s Leaning on Myself, Brett’s Tenenbaum, Star Slinger’s Choose Yourself (like the modern day version of Everybody’s Free To Wear Sunscreen for creatives — anyone else remember that song?!), Richard Houghten’s Wind Travel, Koresma’s Canyon Walls, Arms and Sleepers I Miss The Melody Of, Dermot’s Kennedy’s After Rain, Roo Pains Silver Moon, Rand Aldo’s Tomorrow Will Save Us, Airwaves You Gotta Keep Moving, Astron’s Astral Projection, alt-J’s Warm Foothills, Villager’s Nothing Arrived, Jay Wolf & Day Wave’s Your Way, EREZ’s Runnin, Tim Legend’s When The World Ended and RKCB’s Flowers for Vases were on heavy rotation. Cozy up in front of the fireplace with a delicious glass of red wine or your favourite herbal tea and indulge your ears in the sweet musical styling of February’s Monthly Soundtrack!

PANTONE 2019 COLOUR OF THE YEAR INSPIRATION | LIVING CORAL

Happy love day, friends! This year, I’m putting a PANTONE 2019 Colour of the Year spin on Valentine’s celebrations with a warm, pink-hued introduction to all things Living Coral! By now, you’ve likely heard about 2019’s hottest hue — either here at JustineCelina, or elsewhere online. As a creative professional, I’ve followed PANTONE (the global colour authority for creative industries) for inspiration my entire career. In fact, I even have a section dedicated to them here on the blog to categorize all my PANTONE inspired work throughout the years! As someone who’s very inspired by colour, I love to stay informed about the latest colour trends and allow them to inspire, challenge and push my creative work.

As you can probably imagine, I’m particularly passionate about PANTONE’s selection for 2019! If you’re craving a serious dose of colour to help see you through these final wintery months as we (slowly but surely!) transition into spring, today’s post is an ode to Pantone’s 2019 Colour of the Year. JANUARY 2019 SOUNDTRACK

Dry January is almost over — and that means I’m back with 2019’s first Monthly Soundtrack! While I’ll be very glad to indulge in a glass of wine on February 1st, abstaining from alcohol, getting back into my fitness regime, being more mindful with my time and taking a step back during the first 2 weeks of the month to get re-inspired, set intentions and plan for the for year has made for the most inspired and productive January I think I’ve ever had. I’m feeling so optimistic and excited to dive into 2019 — and this 3+ hour January 2019 Soundtrack fueled an absolutely fantastic month!

So, what tracks kept my motivation running at an all time high? The War On Drug’s Thinking of a Place will always remind me of our magical Canmore NYE getaway (I shared some highlights from our trip in this post) and I had tunes from The 1975, Phantastic Ferniture, Jordan Critz, Evolution of Stars, The American Dollar, Men I Trust, Aphex Twin, Lofive, Barrie, No Rome, Loyle Carner, Moon Moon Moon, KAWALA, flor, SOAK, ayokay, Bearson and Geographer on repeat. I hope you enjoy this lighthearted, eclectic playlist!
