SPRING / SUMMER 2019 LOOKBOOK

Friends and fashionistas, I’m elated to finally share my SPRING / SUMMER 2019 LOOKBOOK with you! Despite a few delays due to our crazy weather (believe it or not, it snowed in Calgary just a few weeks ago!) we finally wrapped up shooting earlier this month and I’ve since been hard at work creating this seasonally inspired, sartorial guide for the modern woman. Now that summer is officially upon us (although there’s no end in sight to the rain here in Calgary!), many of us Canadian girls are finally packing away our boots and knits and pulling out our warm weather pieces from years past. I always like to take this time to clean out my closet, identify holes in my seasonal wardrobe, integrate a few updated basics and experiment with new trends. DIGITAL BLOOMS JUNE 2019 | FREE DESKTOP WALLPAPER

Peony season is upon us once again — and this month at JustineCelina I’m celebrating one of my favourite flowers in all of their beautiful simplicity for June 2019’s DIGITAL BLOOMS! It looks like warmer weather is finally here to stay and Peonies have started to pop up in local flower markets and grocery stores (if you’re here in Calgary, be sure to stop into a Safeway to score Peonies at an incredible price!). The flower pictured in June 2019 Free Desktop Wallpaper actually came from my Mom’s country garden where I captured this design, inspired by sweet summer blooms dancing on the warm breeze!

My obsession with the Pantone’s SS19 Fashion Colour Trend Report continues this month (you’ll be hearing more about it in my upcoming SS19 Lookbook, dropping soon!) and I’m particularly intrigued by Sweet Lilac paired up with Pepper Stem. If you love Peonies and dreamy pastel pastel pinks, click through to download June’s tech wallpaper to the background of your computer, tablet or phone — absolutely free! And if you’d like to learn more about Peonies this season, hop over to our All About Peonies post for a one-stop educational resource!

VEGAN CARDAMOM CARROT CAKE SMOOTHIE

This year, one of my goals is to get more of my tried and true recipes out of my recipe box and onto these pages. I currently have 50+ recipes in my archives and am always whipping up something new, but eventually I will get around to sharing them all (I’m also working on a fun recipe-based project, set to launch later this year!). My Vegan Cardamom Carrot Cake Smoothie is an ancient recipe hailing from my pre-blogging days when I used to just post my recipes on Instagram with pictures I took on my iPhone. It became a fast favourite in our kitchen that we eventually forgot about during the process of starting JustineCelina and deep-diving into recipe development. Earlier this year I pulled this recipe out of my archives and threw it back into testing so I could finally publish it this spring — and I’m so glad I did, because this rediscovered gem has become a staple!

My Vegan Cardamom Carrot Cake Smoothie tastes exactly like carrot cake batter but is packed full of heart healthy, anti-aging, digestion-aiding ingredients. Gorgeous heirloom carrots, hearty pear and fresh ginger combine with frozen bananas, pineapple, gluten free quick oats, vanilla protein powder, creamy cashew milk, dried apricots, a splash of bright lemon and a medley of warming, anti-inflammatory spices to create a nourishing, spring-inspired smoothie. The next time you’re craving the essence of carrot cake, indulge in this sweet and spicy smoothie to treat yourself to some incredible health benefits!

ALL ABOUT PAMPAS GRASS

Have you seen this gorgeous, fluffy grass floating around all over your favourite social media platform lately and wondered what it is and where you can get yourself some?! Me too, my friend! In fact, my recent obsession with these beautiful, bohemian plumes has inspired a fresh installment in my ALL ABOUT series — and this time, it’s All About Pampas Grass! You’ve likely seen a surge of pampas trickle into my recent content — I’ve been working with it since the holidays and have since incorporated it into nearly every room in our home (the obsession is real!). Typically my ALL ABOUT series is reserved for FLOWERS, but dried arrangements, grasses and foliage are having a major moment this year — so I’ve expanded!

If you’re intrigued by Pampas Grass and want to know where to purchase it, how much it costs and how to condition it to it to keep it from shedding, consider my All About Pampas Grass post your one-stop educational resource to learn everything you ever wanted to know about this popular plume. Today we’re chatting alternate names and meanings, where to purchase locally as well as online, varieties available, vase life, what to look for when purchasing, how to care for and condition your pampas so you can enjoy it for years to come. I’m also sharing some dried arrangement tips and innovative ideas on how to incorporate Pampas Grass into your decor. Fellow boho lovers, pour yourself a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and settle in for a relaxing read as we cover all things pampas — my favourite ornamental grass!

PRE SPRING 2019 TREND GUIDE | BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY

With the first official day of spring behind us and temperatures soaring into the teens here in Calgary, I couldn’t be happier to bring you my first Spring 2019 TREND GUIDE! The sun is out, the skies are blue and the snow is starting to melt — which means it’s time begin rotating our seasonal wardrobes, transitioning winter out (byyyyyyyye!) as we ease into spring styles. That said, March weather is extremely unpredictable in Calgary — for example, over the course of the next week, temperatures range between a sunny 14°C degrees and a snowy -1°C! Dressing the part can be a bit of a daunting task when all we want to do is pack away our coats, knits and endless layers to embrace a fresh season!

These in-between months where we have the opportunity to blend the best of 2 seasons are actually some of my favourite to dress for — and that’s exactly how this experimental, bohemian look came to life! If you’re craving spring trends and colours but still faced with the bipolar nature of transitional weather, this post is for you. Today I’m chatting about how you can start integrating some of Spring 2019‘s hottest trends into your wardrobe right now, juxtaposed with cold weather style staples to create a versatile winter-meets-spring outfit formula. Saddle up for a free-spirited, transitional take on faux fur, florals, western boots, flat-brimmed hats and Pantone’s Spring / Summer 2019 Colour Trend Report as we watch the  sun rise over the rolling fields near my childhood home in rural Alberta!
