MY 2ND BLOGIVERSARY + 10 THINGS I LEARNED IN MY SECOND YEAR OF BLOGGING

Today’s post has literally been 1 year in the making! March 2, 2017 marked my 2nd Blogiversary. Can you believe it? So here we are — just over 2 years, 218 blog posts, 400 000 views, 100 000 images and 2 000 comments later, I’m sharing my My 2nd Blogiversary + 10 Things I Learned in my Second Year of Blogging!

Part of the reason I love blogging is that I have bookmarks into specific time periods of my life (albeit, a small portion of it). It’s so interesting to look back and reflect on where I was 1 year ago versus where I am now. Today’s post is different than last years Blogiversary celebration — because I’m different. This is a quite an introspective, raw post set to the theme of growth and change, which is also my overarching theme for March to welcome spring. This year, I wanted my Blogiversary to feel exactly how it would if we just hanging out as friends, sharing a glass of wine and having a conversation about the last year of this crazy journey of mine. It’s not the shiny production that last year’s post was — and it feels just right. Relaxed, casual, and simply more me at this specific moment (just as last year’s post felt like me at that specific moment). There’s just something about spring that makes me really want to experiment in the beauty department! After our long, dreary (and extremely colourless) winters here in Calgary I feel so energized and inspired by the fresh beauty of spring. It’s a time where I try a lot of new products and discover new beauty favourites. So today’s post is something a little different — I’m sharing my favourite 5 Unconventional Spring Lip Colours! Pink and peach are great standbys, but this post is all about trying something totally outside of your comfort zone. COZY IN CAMEL | MY FAVOURITE TRANSITIONAL PIECES

I always find that February is a difficult month, fashion-wise! It’s not the dead of winter anymore, but it’s also definitely not spring. Here in Calgary the weather has been pretty mild, but there’s still snow on the ground (and let’s be real — it could still snow anytime!). At this time of year I get sick of wearing pants and crave the more feminine silhouettes of spring — dresses and skirts! I find myself reaching for a lot of neutral tones, but punching my look up with bold accessories and statement lips (especially since I’ve been so obsessed with pink, but am picky about wearing it!). I’ve mentioned before that the core of my wardrobe consists of pieces that I can wear for both work and play — this outfit is an example of something I’d wear if I was hanging out with friends, or headed to a business meeting. Today I’m sharing my favourite transitional pieces from winter-to-spring in Alberta!

PANTONE 2016 COLOURS OF THE YEAR INSPIRATION | ROSE QUARTZ & SERENITY

Last week, Pantone announced their colours of the year — they chose two colours for the first time in history! The official Colours of the Year for 2016 are Rose Quartz (a soft pastel pink), and Serenity (a periwinkle pastel blue). Today’s post is an introduction to these shades, including ideas on how to incorporate these colour trends into your personal style for the holidays, as well as inspiration for home decor, fashion and beauty.

I’ve followed Pantone for colour inspiration my entire career — they’re the global colour authority for creative industries. They provide a colour system that ensures colour translates accurately across all mediums, whether it be in fashion, beauty, print, or in design. Pantone also predicts colour trends, so I like to keep up with what they’re forecasting to stay ahead of the curve!

I’m so happy to be sharing more fashion content with you this fall and winter! To kick things off today, I’m starting a new series here at JustineCelina called HOW TO STYLE — showing you how to style a specific on-trend item that you might not think you can pull off, or may be intimidated by.

I’ve loved ponchos for years, and will always wear what I love regardless of whether or not it’s trendy — but I’m pretty excited that ponchos are everywhere this fall!
