WHAT TO WEAR TO | A CASUAL SUMMER WEDDING

It’s the height of summer here in Calgary — the sun is shining, temperatures are soaring and we’re deep into the heart of wedding season! Over the years I’ve published a few posts about what to wear to Spring Weddings as well as other various outdoor summer events — including Garden Parties and Horse Races. But during my 4 years of blogging, I actually haven’t created a post about What to Wear to | A Casual Summer Wedding (despite it being one of the most searched terms here at JustineCelina during July and August!). So today, in the latest installment in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series, I’m sharing all my best summer style tips for outdoor summer weddings!

Longtime readers will know I relish in the opportunity to dress up and dress well for every experience life has to offer. That said, I also know what it’s like to be overdressed in a casual setting — I’ve attended many a small-town wedding with denim on the menu. While I always prefer to be overdressed rather than underdressed to be respectful to my hosts, over the years I’ve learned a thing or two about how to adapt your attire to your environment without letting it put a damper on your personal style. HOW TO STYLE | CALGARY’S WHITE HAT FOR THE STAMPEDE

Yahoo! The Stampede is in full swing and I’m back today with a fresh post in my HOW TO STYLE series dedicated to Calgary’s iconic White Hat! Whether you’re a seasoned Stampede veteran or have only glimpsed images of the Calgary Stampede from afar, you’ve undoubtedly seen this steadfast symbol of Calgary hospitality donned by many during these festive 10 days. This year I had the pleasure of styling a custom-fit Smithbilt 7x White Felt Hat for my latest article for Tourism Calgary about What to Wear to The Calgary Stampede — and I knew I wanted to bring a comprehensive post to JustineCelina in honour of this quintessentially Calgarian cowboy hat. I know it will remain a treasured piece in my Stampede wardrobe for years to come!

As a born-and-raised Alberta girl and lover of western, bohemian inspired FASHION year-round, I’m thrilled to offer up some fresh Stampede style ideas for 2019. Although I used the White Hat as my ‘anchor piece’ in this look, you can absolutely swap it out for any other western or cowboy hat and achieve the same effect! WHAT TO WEAR TO | A HORSE RACE

Welcome back, friends and fashionistas! Today I’ve teamed up with Saks OFF 5TH to bring you a fresh post in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series dedicated to Horse Races — and to announce the Grand Opening of their second location at CF Market Mall! Earlier this summer we had the pleasure of attending Packwood Grand and to be honest, the sartorial aspect of the race excited me much more than the main event! Longtime readers will know I love any excuse to dress up and dress well (which is part of the reason I created my WHAT TO WEAR TO series in the first place!), so I took this unique event as an opportunity to deep dive into horse race appropriate attire and put my own unique spin on the dress code! After hunting for the perfect gingham dress for what seemed like an eternity, low and behold, I found it on Saks OFF 5TH‘s Calvin Klein rack — at just over 50% off, ringing in at $74.99! I’ve always been a fan of gingham and although it’s very on trend at the moment, it’s also a timeless print that lends itself to more traditional occasions and settings. WHAT TO WEAR TO | A GARDEN PARTY

Welcome back for a fresh installment in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series — where I select a seasonal occasion you may not be sure what to wear to and bring you my take on it! Believe it or not, this summer we don’t actually have any weddings (and after attending 7 last year, I’m okay with that!), but we do have quite a few garden parties and outdoor daytime events in the calendar. Although the term ‘Garden Party‘ is more widely used in the UK then it is here in Canada, we’re actually attended our fair share of garden parties (defined simply as an afternoon event held outdoors on a lawn or in a garden) over the past few years — and no one ever seems to know what the dress code is! Naturally, I thought the topic would make a great blog post — and I had just the perfect dress and location in mind to bring it to life!

I hope you’re not getting sick of seeing me in breezy floral dresses this summer, because 3rd Floor Studio‘s stunning Ingrid dress is the star of the show today! In fact, chances are if we’ve hung out IRL lately I’ve probably been wearing this dress — and this bag! While the idea of wearing florals to a garden party isn’t exactly groundbreaking, I think it’s the perfect opportunity to take your favourite LFD’s (little floral dresses!) out for a spin and have some fun styling them up with more casual, daytime accessories. Today I’m demystifying Garden Party attire and sharing versatile styling options to suit every body type, occasion and venue! Longtime readers will know how passionate I am about fully embracing the unique sartorial opportunities the Stampede provides. Growing up on the Alberta prairies, I’ve seen my fair share of western wear over the years and it has undoubtedly shaped my personal style. I’m all about looking the part and dressing your best for any occasion — the Calgary Stampede included! These wild 10 days are packed full of incredible networking opportunities, endless parties, fanfare, live entertainment and world-class culinary experiences — and each year, I curate a few western inspired outfits with a modern, bohemian sensibility to carry me though in style. If you’re looking for some fresh Stampede fashion ideas for both personal and professional settings, I’ve totally got you covered!

This year I’ve swapped my vintage turquoise for gold accents, my fringe bag for this blush pink beauty, my vintage cowboy boots for my favourite pair of OTK western boots and my undone braids for a flat brimmed hat, but one thing remains — the quintessential little white dress! WHAT TO WEAR TO | CASUAL HOLIDAY PARTIES

It’s mid December and the holiday party season is in full swing, so I thought it was the perfect time to share a new post in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series — this time, to Casual Holiday Parties! I’m all about comfortable, laid back holiday looks remixing pieces from my existing wardrobe. This season, I’ve picked up a couple of new, trendier accessories to refresh my old favourites — and I’m so excited to share my finds with you! I actually wore this exact outfit to a restaurant opening on Steven Avenue (where we came back to shoot this post) last month and had tons of compliments and questions about it — a few women mentioned wanting to wear something similar to their holiday parties this year! And so this post idea was born. The best part is I put this look together with pieces I already owned — although my boots and hat are newer purchases from earlier this season!

Today I’m chatting about What To Wear To | Casual Holiday Parties and sharing a few of my favourite versatile, cool weather staples you can style a million different ways — during this festive season and beyond! As someone who firmly believes they were born in the wrong decade, I’m thrilled to bring you my second AUTUMN 2017 TREND GUIDE dedicated to my love (obsession?) of 70’s inspired style!
