WHAT TO WEAR TO | THE CALGARY STAMPEDE

With the Calgary Stampede currently underway I thought it would be the perfect time for another installment in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series! Today I’m chatting about what I’m wearing this year and sharing my love for great vintage and authentic western style with a bohemian influence. If you don’t live near Calgary, let me fill you in — the Calgary Stampede is a 10 day outdoor festival referred to as The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, celebrating the culture of the wild wild west. It’s also one big excuse for the city to shut down and party, which I have to say Calgarians do quite well! And while my crazy stampeding days are long behind me, there are some fantastic Stampede events and parties (not to mention excellent networking) that takes place during these 10 days — and I like to look the part! I think there’s an opportunity to dress really well at the Calgary Stampede and embrace the roots of traditional western style.

This post is also a collaboration with the lovely Dawn Bradley Hair who I worked with to create this gorgeous bohemian hairstyle. If you’re looking for some textured, braided, perfectly undone hair inspiration, Dawn breaks down how to achieve the style in 10 easy steps!

WHAT TO WEAR TO | SPRING WEDDINGS

Wedding season has arrived! Every year, what to wear to spring weddings is something I’m asked about frequently — so today’s post is another installment in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series. It’s such a popular request, I wrote a post about it last year before I was able photograph my style content! Today I’m chatting about what I’m wearing to spring 2016 weddings when the weather is still a bit unpredictable (FYI, it snowed in Calgary last weekend and it was sprinkling when we photographed this post!). I may be a bit biased because of my love for flowers, but that I think floral print is perfect for spring weddings. It’s colourful and fresh, and there are so many interpretations of it each spring. From soft subdued, to bold and colourful like I’m wearing here, you’re sure to find a print that compliments your personal style. I’ve included links to my favourite floral print dresses this season for every body type (pssst, the dress I’m wearing is under $40!). I also chat about choosing accessories to compliment a statement dress, along with my special occasion hair and makeup tips.

WHAT TO WEAR TO | HOLIDAY PARTIES

‘Tis the season! Tonight’s post is another installment in my WHAT TO WEAR series (thanks, Michelle for the request) — I’ve compiled a very comprehensive guide on what to wear to various holiday parties. I’ve included outfit options for every type of party you may be attending — whether it be a corporate gala or black tie event, cocktail party, or a New Years Eve celebration! And now is a great time to shop (it’s when I personally do my holiday shopping), since a lot of retailers are offering Cyber Week and Black Friday promotions. I’ll have more details on that in this post!

Let’s face it — holiday parties are not what they used to be, at least not in Calgary. Five years ago I was dressed to the nines at multiple, extravagant celebrations, while this year neither my boyfriend or I are attending corporate holiday parties. Companies just don’t have the extra cash right now to shell out on these types of events. But rather than focusing on the negative, I put a budget friendly spin on my picks — each piece of clothing is under $200, and most accessories under $100 (with a lot of jewellery $20 or less)!

MY HAIRCARE ROUTINE FOR LONG, THICK, COLOUR TREATED HAIR

Can you believe it’s been 6 years since I’ve published a Haircare Routine?! While a lot has changed, my passion for maintaining healthy hair at home with a simple but effective routine (and thoughtfully formulated products) remains. Today, in partnership with Canadian retailer BeautySense.ca, I’m elated to bring you my updated Haircare Routine for Long, Thick Colour Treated Hair — featuring my all-time-favourite Moroccanoil products and how I use them.

My hair is one of the things I’m complimented on (and asked about!) most — and it’s something I take great pride in. Despite my wild haircolour and style past, over the course of my 7 year blogging career here at JustineCelina, both have remained fairly consistent (with a couple rounds of bangs thrown in for good measure!). While I truly enjoyed my natural haircolour for as long as possible, as I’ve ventured into my 30’s, I’ve begun colouring my hair once again (this time to disguise those pesky greys!) and adjusted my routine accordingly. At present day I’m pleased to say that my hair has never been stronger, longer or healthier — and today I’m sharing my best kept hair secrets!
