It’s mid December and the holiday party season is in full swing, so I thought it was the perfect time to share a new post in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series — this time, to Casual Holiday Parties! I’m all about comfortable, laid back holiday looks remixing pieces from my existing wardrobe. This season, I’ve picked up a couple of new, trendier accessories to refresh my old favourites — and I’m so excited to share my finds with you! I actually wore this exact outfit to a restaurant opening on Steven Avenue (where we came back to shoot this post) last month and had tons of compliments and questions about it — a few women mentioned wanting to wear something similar to their holiday parties this year! And so this post idea was born. The best part is I put this look together with pieces I already owned — although my boots and hat are newer purchases from earlier this season!
Today I’m chatting about What To Wear To | Casual Holiday Parties and sharing a few of my favourite versatile, cool weather staples you can style a million different ways — during this festive season and beyond! If you’re attending a laid back holiday celebration this year and want to dress up a little without going full on glam (or buying an entirely new outfit), this post is for you! Come hang out for some tips on how get creative and shop your closet for items, fabrics and patterns you may not necessarily think to wear during the holidays — including pleated maxi skirts, velvet, baker boy caps, cross body bags, sock boots, checks and wool coats. And if you are on the hunt for a few key pieces to refresh your winter staples for 2017, I’ve included tons of shoppable links for you at every price point! Let’s all eat, drink and be merry in style this season!
I’m back today with another SPRING 2017 TREND GUIDE for you — and this time, I’m styling 1 outfit 2 ways! If we’ve visited IRL lately, there’s a good chance I may have been wearing some iteration of this outfit (don’t think fashion bloggers don’t rewear their favourite outfits around different groups of people!). I’ve worn this Casual Chic look to meetings, to daytime events and also out to enjoy a glass of rosé on a sunny patio with friends in the evening — transitioning my outfit simply by changing up a few accessories and losing a layer! While I’d love to be frolicking in a field or on a mountaintop everyday of my life (I mean… who wouldn’t?!), I realize that’s just not realistic for the average woman and moving forward I’ll be showcasing the more professional side of my wardrobe here at JustineCelina as well.
While this outfit incorporates a handful of seasonal trends, it’s also such an easy one to wear — and one I think would suit almost every body shape. So beautiful people, kick back with me this weekend and let’s chat palazzo pants and 70’s inspired silhouettes, stripes, the new white shirt, cold shoulders, straw bags, wedges, vibrant lips, metallics and the difference between inexpensive and designer shades (I’m wearing my very first pair of designer sunglasses in this post and sharing my thoughts on whether or not they’re worth the splurge)!
With the weather in Calgary being all sorts of unpredictable this year, I had originally planned to share this look with you earlier this autumn as the last installment in my Autumn Trend Guides. The intense cold snap we experienced a couple of weeks ago made shooting new style content outside almost impossible — but thankfully we experienced a few above 0℃ days earlier this week, so I jumped at the chance to get out there and snap a few photos. It actually worked out perfectly, since this last Trend Guide is all about transitioning some of autumns biggest trends into winter!
Today I’m sharing 10 of my favourite styles that are here to stay as temperatures drop — we’re talking novelty denim, metallics, block heels, mini bags, faux fur, pompoms, cold shoulders, velvet, longline and ultra dark, oversized shades! I’m also officially introducing you to Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2017, Greenery, and chatting about different ways to incorporate it into your personal style this season. If you’re ready to refresh your wardrobe for 2017 (or are looking for some holiday style inspiration), these are my top recommendations for trends that are here to stay!
Welcome back for another installment of my AUTUMN 2016 TREND GUIDES — where I break down this seasons biggest trends and show you how to wear them! With so many great new sartorial trends cropping up this season, I’ve chosen another handful of my favourites to style for you — this time in a boho-luxe look with urban flair. Today we’re chatting bomber jackets, velvet and satin, mini bags, square and block heels (yep, they’re back!), mock necks, jewel tones, circular shades and matte, velvety lips! If you’re looking to update your personal style with some versatile staples this season, you’ll love this post — each piece I’m wearing has been on heavy rotation in my autumn wardrobe. And of course, I’ll be referencing the Fall 2016 Pantone Fashion Trend Report — it’s been a major source of inspiration to me in all creative avenues this autumn!
I, along with almost every other woman on the planet, will tell you that fall is my favourite time of year, especially for fashion. But September specifically is my favourite month — well, for almost everything (except Pumpkin Spice Lattes… I may be the only woman on the planet who’s not a fan of those!). It’s nice enough outside that we don’t have to be totally bundled up, but cooler temperatures call for more autumnal, layered style. It’s the perfect opportunity to maximize wear time on your favourite summer pieces, but also to begin playing with autumn fashion. So, today’s post a fall-inspired outfit with wear now appeal — a summer-meets-autumn mashup that we only get to wear for a brief window of time here in Calgary! I’m also chatting about some of fall 2016’s biggest trends and giving you tips to incorporate them into your personal style, right now.
With Winter Solstice in the rear-view, it feels surreal to be publishing my final LOOKBOOK of the decade (isn’t that absolutely wild?!). After a seemingly never ending saga of snowstorms and chinooks over the past month as we approach the holiday season, I’m excited to share what I’ve been wearing during this festive time of year in my 6 outfit Autumn / Winter 2019 Lookbook! My sixth and final LOOKBOOK of 2019 spotlights practical and stylish outfits ideas for a variety of settings and events as we transition from late autumn into early winter here in Calgary. As always, it features my favourite outfit formulas and classic wardrobe staples — updated with fresh dose of seasonal trends!
If you’re looking for someFASHION inspiration to help you navigate through the holiday season and into a new decade in style, you’ve come to the right place! Today I’m dishing on my favourite winter trends, patterns, prints, colours (with an introduction to the Pantone 2020 Colour of the Year, Classic Blue!) materials and silhouettes, plus all my best styling tips to help you brave our harsh Canadian winters — and look absolutely fantastic doing it! As always, you can expect a melange of high, low, old, new and vintage in my Autumn / Winter 2019 Lookbook — as well as an onslaught of shoppable links at every price point and tips about how to curate accessible style on a budget, with an emphasis on quality, cold-weather fabrics! Friends and fashionistas, welcome back for a fresh installment in my PATTERN PLAY series, dedicated to all things chain print! If you keep an eye on fashion trends, you’ll likely have noticed a surge of chain print trickling into your favourite retailers since the onset of autumn — and it’s hotter than ever as we transition into spring. Although this vintage feeling, designer-inspired print has always had a place in my wardrobe (namely in my vintage scarf collection!), I was thrilled to see its reemergence this season in so many fresh interpretations. That said, I always ensure trends have longevity before integrating them into my personal style and bringing them to JustineCelina — and can confidently declare that chain print here to stay!
While this bold, attention grabbing pattern definitely makes a statement, chain printed garments and accessories are popping up in nearly every colour, scale and fabric imaginable — there’s truly something for everyone. Because of the wide range of chain print currently available, I now consider it a seasonless pattern that works year-round! I’m a firm believer that if you’re intrigued by a print, there’s a way to make it work for you — incorporating it into your personal style in a way that compliments your lifestyle, preferences, body type and budget. Whether you’re ready to shackle yourself in chain print this season, simply want to learn more about upcoming SS19 trends (plus, how you can start wearing them right now!), or are here for my best styling tips to make your midi and maxi hemlines work during the depths of winter, you’ll love today’s post!
