My May Soundtrack is a fresh, springy, 3.5 hour playlist of happy, chill music! Like most months, what sounded good to me in May was pretty diverse and I discovered lots of new artists. A few standout tracks this month include Hazing’s What Youth, Glade’s Drive and BLAJK’s French Class. I also really enjoyed Beast Coast’s new EP, Ocean Soul. I’m still using and loving Spotify (come join me over there!) and most of my new music discoveries have come from their Weekly Discover playlists. To be honest, I’m not sure how I lived without Spotify and their Discover Weekly playlists — which are updated every Monday based on your musical preferences. They make my Mondays (usually a day when I catch up on admin) so much better! I also threw in a few new tracks I discovered via my favourite Sirius XM channels — Alt Nation, XMU and XM Chill. My May Soundtrack is perfect background music for dinner with friends, spring parties, backyard barbecues or road trips!

You guys, Colourpop did it again! If you’ve been with me for awhile you’ll know how much I love Colourpop Cosmetics — an innovative, affordable, cruelty-free makeup brand hailing from L.A. Last spring when their first line of liquid lipsticks launched, I loved them so much that I did a dedicated review post. And while I do still love the original Ultra Matte Lips, the liquid lipstick world has blown up over the last year — formulas have been perfected, colour ranges have expanded, and brands are really listening to what consumers are looking for. So, when I heard Colourpop launched an Ultra Satin Lip formula that was supposed to by less drying, you know I had to try it out! Click through for my full Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip review, with lots of photos, swatches and comparisons to the original Ultra Matte Lip formula.
We love tulips here at JustineCelina. Who doesn’t?! Every Spring, tulips make their debut in gardens and markets across the country to welcome the season. They’re cheap and cheerful, and we’re constantly inspired by their vibrancy, simplicity and ability to transform any space. Today’s All About Tulips post is another installment in our FLOWER EDUCATION series, where Rebecca Dawn Design and I team up to teach you about seasonal blooms!
In this post you’ll learn about our favourite varieties, what to look for when purchasing tulips and how to care for and condition them so you can enjoy them for up to 10 days. We also share our inspiration for this gorgeous cascading tulip bouquet. If you’ve always wanted to learn more about tulips, grab a notepad and let’s chat about everyone’s favourite spring flower!
We’ve been having quite a few grey, rainy days lately. So, I thought I’d embrace it and show you what I wear on a more casual day when I still want to look cute and pulled together! On cooler spring days I like to feel cozy but also wear lighter colours and layers to keep things fresh and seasonally appropriate. I pretty much live in great basics like skinny jeans, cute flats, classic v-necks and oversized cardigans when I’m keeping things casual. Sometimes I also give my eyes a break from contacts and wear glasses. I picked up a couple of new frames recently, so I thought I’d show you how I style them on a casual day! I also chat about my go-to natural makeup look — it’s perfect for glasses.

RAINBOW CARROT AND YELLOW PEPPER SOUP
It was a cold, rainy spring Saturday in Calgary. I’d just had a beautiful, inspiring lunch at Shokunin the day prior with fellow food blogger Heather’s Eats. During lunch, my Maki roll came garnished with gorgeous edible petals and chef Darren stopped by to chat with us about his vision for the restaurant. Earlier that week I had tons of photoshoots involving flowers and the leftovers were scattered all over my living room in a beautiful mess. Rebecca and I had been chatting about ideas for edible flower posts, so that was dancing around in the back of my head. I had a whole bunch of carrots and yellow peppers that needed to be used up, and a can of coconut milk sitting half-full in the fridge. I was craving a comforting, pureed soup and realized I hadn’t made one since the fall! It seems that on dreary, grey days I crave the most colour — and I’ve been really into yellow in fashion this spring.
All these things inspired this fresh, nourishing and colourful spring soup recipe! The best part? You only need 10 ingredients (including seasonings) to make my Rainbow Carrot & Yellow Pepper Soup!
APRIL BEAUTY FAVOURITES
Hey guys! It seems like forever since my last monthly beauty favourites post, doesn’t it? It’s a few days later than usual because I bumped it back to coordinate with my In Search of Yummyness In The Kitchen With interview, so today I’m excited to share my April Beauty Favourites with you! Like last month, I gravitated towards cooler purple tones on the eyes and peaches and corals on the lips. It was an especially busy month and I tend to fall back on my favourite formulas when I don’t have time to search out and test new products!
This month I fell in love with a stunning neon-purple eyeshadow, a gorgeous peach lipstick, an array of peach and coral glosses, an affordable new setting spray, and a new dry shampoo from my favourite brand. If you have a few minutes to relax this Sunday, grab a beverage and a snack and let’s chat about some great beauty products!
Today’s post is something a little different! I’m excited to share a look inside my kitchen as part of the In Search of Yummyness In the Kitchen With Series. Shareba and I are both members of the Food Bloggers of Canada and we’ve always enjoyed keeping up with each other online. I was honoured when she asked me to be part of her new series, where she takes a look inside the kitchens of her favourite bloggers! You can hop over to her post for the interview, where she asks me things like what’s in my fridge, what I make for dinner on a hectic weekday, what I like to serve when I’m entertaining and what my favourite restaurants in Calgary are. I also let you in on some of my biggest recipe fails since I’ve started blogging! In my post today I’m sharing lots more photos of our space, so come hang out in my kitchen — I have snacks, flowers and chilled rosé!
