DIGITAL BLOOMS MAY 2017 | FREE DESKTOP WALLPAPERS

Well, hello May! It’s time to welcome a new month here at JustineCelina with a fresh set of DIGITAL BLOOMS. To keep things interesting this spring, we’ve drawn our inspiration from the Spring 2017 Pantone Fashion Color Report and will be celebrating a new on trend hue each month this season! Last month we were obsessed with blush and neutral shades — but this May, it’s all about yellow. Yellow is one of this season’s biggest colour trends and one of my personal favourites to wear, so I had a blast translating this jubilant hue to our spring FLOWER content!

Today Rebecca Dawn Design and I are showcasing a spectrum of sunny yellow shades — from the softest buttercreams to the freshest lemons to the most vibrant canaries. Our 3 free May 2017 Free Desktop Wallpapers include Irises, Lisianthus, Tulips, Alstroemeria and Mini Stock Buds. We’re also celebrating early spring’s flowering trees with a playful, blooming branch inspired design. Spend some time with us today soaking in these mellow, yellow vibes and download May 2017’s Digital Blooms to enjoy spring’s bright, sunshiny blooms on the background of your computer, tablet or phone all month long!

ROASTED PURPLE CAULIFLOWER WITH RED PEPPER ROMESCO (WILD ROSE D-TOX FRIENDLY!)

I’ve been testing this recipe since December — and it feels so good to finally publish it! Typically I go through 3 – 5 rounds of recipe testing and for my Roasted Purple Cauliflower with Red Pepper Romesco, the fourth time was the charm. If you’ve been following along on my socials, you may know that I had an unfortunate accident with a new kitchen knife on Easter Monday, sliced my index finger and wound up in the ER. Ironically, I was recipe testing. I’ll save you all the gory details because this is a food post after all, but long story short — I ended up with 5 stitches, one very sore finger, minimal nerve damage and a mild reaction to a Tetanus shot that left me with a rash all over my upper body (it’s been a rough couple of weeks!). So if it’s seemed a bit quiet around here, that’s why. It was such a struggle to do pretty much everything during the first week while I was healing up, but my stitches came out Thursday and I’m on the mend. The whole thing was pretty scary and I’m just incredibly grateful it wasn’t any worse! Thank you for all your well wishes and your patience as I attempted to navigate through life at a slower pace these past couple of weeks.

Now, onward and upward! After a week of being terrified to use my kitchen knife and not being able to actually wield it to chop anything, we decided to start the Wild Rose D-Tox on Monday. This is my 6th time doing it over the years and it’s not that much different than my regular, plant based diet — minus anything fermented (yes, that includes alcohol!), tropical fruit and the occasional indulgence. I like to think of it as spring cleaning for my system — and one that was definitely needed after feeling so out of whack last week with my Tetanus shot, taking painkillers (I prefer not to take medication unless absolutely necessary — we didn’t even have any Ibuprofen in the house!) and having to resort to a lot of frozen leftovers (thankfully, my recipe testing process affords a well stocked freezer!). Fast forward to late this week and I finally got my groove back — I was happy to be the kitchen again and feeling inspired! I used this past week as an opportunity to slow down and really focus on what I’m putting in my body to help it heal. I perfected my Roasted Purple Cauliflower with Red Pepper Romesco yesterday and I’m happy to report that it’s completely Wild Rose D-Tox friendly — I can’t wait to share it with you!

A BLUSHING SPRING ARRANGEMENT

Flower children, welcome back for another installment in our FLOWER EDUCATION series! Today Rebecca Dawn Design and I couldn’t be more excited to share this Blushing Spring Arrangement with you — it’s sweet, fragrant and right on trend Spring (nope, I’m not even close to being done with the Spring Pantone Fashion Color Report!). Although I love each of the arrangements and bouquets Rebecca and I create, I have to say — this one is my all time favourite!

Blush tones are a huge trend this spring and its been so much fun translating seasonal colour inspiration across categories. This season, blush, peach and neutral tones have been present in my BEAUTY content and I can’t stop wearing blush inspired neutrals at the moment (they’ll be popping up in my next FASHION post!). Not only are blush and neutral toned blooms perfectly on trend, but the exquisite variety of shades that mother natures provides for us each spring is truly nothing short of amazing. Embrace the season with us today as we chat about our favourite spring blooms and flowering branches in this Blushing Spring Arrangement — including dreamy, oversized Japanese Ranunculus, standard Ranunculus, Quicksand Roses, Lisianthus, Hyacinths and fragrant Magnolia branches hailing from Canada’s west coast! Rebecca also shares her expert flowering branch foraging and care tips to inspire you to enjoy the beauty of the season in your home this spring.

MY 2ND BLOGIVERSARY + 10 THINGS I LEARNED IN MY SECOND YEAR OF BLOGGING

Today’s post has literally been 1 year in the making! March 2, 2017 marked my 2nd Blogiversary. Can you believe it? So here we are — just over 2 years, 218 blog posts, 400 000 views, 100 000 images and 2 000 comments later, I’m sharing my My 2nd Blogiversary + 10 Things I Learned in my Second Year of Blogging!

Part of the reason I love blogging is that I have bookmarks into specific time periods of my life (albeit, a small portion of it). It’s so interesting to look back and reflect on where I was 1 year ago versus where I am now. Today’s post is different than last years Blogiversary celebration — because I’m different. This is a quite an introspective, raw post set to the theme of growth and change, which is also my overarching theme for March to welcome spring. This year, I wanted my Blogiversary to feel exactly how it would if we just hanging out as friends, sharing a glass of wine and having a conversation about the last year of this crazy journey of mine. It’s not the shiny production that last year’s post was — and it feels just right. Relaxed, casual, and simply more me at this specific moment (just as last year’s post felt like me at that specific moment). I hope you enjoy my Pantone Greenery inspired 2nd Blogiversary + 10 Things I Learned in my Second Year of Blogging post, in collaboration with my friend Rebecca Dawn Design!

FEBRUARY 2017 BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Welcome back for another edition of Monthly Beauty Favourites! I have a little bit of everything to share with you this month — including including makeup, haircare, skincare, fragrance and wellness recommendations that span categories here at JustineCelina. My February 2017 Beauty Favourites is a long one, so if you’re spending this snowy Sunday afternoon at home with half an hour to spare, curl up with a nice hot mug of tea and let’s chat chat about a few of my favourite things!

I was truly all over the map this month in terms of products I used and loved, which makes for a very eclectic medley! Makeup wise I found myself drawn to romantic, rosy hues, nude lips and colourful, blown out smoky eyes — I’m craving spring inspired hues, but still embracing the drama of winter. Extremely dry, frigid winter weather persists here in Calgary (and unfortunately March is looking cold!) so my skin has definitely been feeling the effects. I discovered some extremely hydrating products for both my hands and my lips containing nourishing oils to aid in hydration. I also found a great product for taming those pesky flyaways, an inexpensive, no frills setting powder for the face and I rediscovered my love for a metallic, budget friendly eyeliner. I also visited my favourite spa in Canmore for a massage and picked up a chakra balancing essential oil to enjoy at home (in fact, I have some in a warmer right now!). On the completely other end of the spectrum, I feel head over heels for Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum after attending a lovely event celebrating its launch earlier last month!
