MARCH 2017 BEAUTY FAVOURITES + BLOG HOUSEKEEPING

Hey guys — welcome back for another Monthly Beauty Favourites post! As you may have gathered, the last couple of months have been intense BEAUTY wise here at JustineCelina — I’m elated to continue my partnership with Sephora Canada into 2017 and have been testing products like crazy. I’ve also been testing new drugstore products as well (if you joined me over on Insta Stories one random Friday afternoon last month where I unboxed and gave my first impressions on a ton of new goodies I picked up from Wet n Wild, you know what I’m talking about!). My March 2017 Beauty Favourites are a mixture of new high end obsessions and new drugstore obsessionsthere’s something for everyone!

And now, for some blog housekeeping. Back in my New Year, New Goals: Cultivating a Balanced 2017 post, I mentioned a number of things I was investigating to aid me in working smarter this year. I’ve been experimenting with new structures, programs, workflows and tools behind the scenes here at JustineCelina this year — and you’ll see the first of the changes roll out in today’s post (I’m excited to share them with you — but I’m still learning, so it’s a work in progress!). If you’re in the mood to learn more about March’s standout beauty products with a side of blog housekeeping, pour yourself fresh cup of coffee and settle in for a lengthy read!

DIGITAL BLOOMS APRIL 2017 | FREE DESKTOP WALLPAPERS + DIGITAL BLOOMS TURNS 1!

April 1st is an exciting day here at JustineCelina headquarters — it’s been exactly 1 year since Rebecca Dawn Design and I teamed up to create the first edition of DIGITAL BLOOMS for you! There have been so many milestones to celebrate this past month, but this is a very special one. I feel incredibly grateful to continue to work with Rebecca to bring FLOWER content to JustineCelina and make flower education accessible. We are so very lucky to be able to learn from the best!

To set the tone the 1st Anniversary Edition of Digital Blooms, we drew inspiration from the Spring 2017 Pantone Fashion Color Report. Blush, neutral and muted tones are trending this spring — and they just happen some of mine and Rebecca’s favourites! April 2017’s 3 digital wallpapers feature an array of quintessential spring blooms including Ranunculus (and those gorgeous, oversized Japanese Ranunculus!), Lisianthus, Hellebores and Pieris set to a spring inspired palette of soft blush, peach and mauve shades. This set just screams spring to me! While Calgary isn’t blossoming quite yet, we hope you enjoy our interpretation of spring flowers digitally. Simply click through to download April 2017’s special 1st Anniversary Edition Digital Blooms and enjoy the softer side of spring on the background of your computer, tablet or phone — absolutely free!

5 FRESH NEUTRAL LIP COMBOS TO TRY THIS SPRING

For me, spring is synonymous with experimentation — especially in the beauty department! It’s a time when I feel inspired to refresh my makeup routine, go lighter and brighter, try new trends and explore new colours, finishes and formulas. With the first days of spring finally upon us I’m already embracing the softer side of the season — on my lips! Spring 2017 is all about the un nude lip. These new nudes include a spectrum of matte, metallic, cream and gloss finishes ranging from fair nudes to the richest, deep neutrals. With so many new lip trends surfacing this spring, almost every brand has released new formulas, finishes and shades — and I’ve put them to the test behind the scenes here at JustineCelina!

Today I’ve teamed up with Sephora Canada to share 5 Fresh Neutral Lip Combos to Try this Spring — including my favourite traditional lipsticks, liquid lipsticks, glosses and hybrid formulas, paired with coordinating lip liners, across a full spectrum of neutral shades! Each of these 5 lip combos was carefully curated to showcase the best Spring 2017 has to offer in a variety of shades, formulas, finishes and price points. There’s something for everyone — whether you can’t resist a classic nude lip, tend to favour natural products, love your liquid lipsticks, live for luxury or just want to try something totally unique (there may be a glittery, duo chrome gloss on the menu!). If you’re looking for some beautiful new lip products to update your beauty routine this spring, here’s what’s on my hit list!

FEBRUARY 2017 BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Welcome back for another edition of Monthly Beauty Favourites! I have a little bit of everything to share with you this month — including including makeup, haircare, skincare, fragrance and wellness recommendations that span categories here at JustineCelina. My February 2017 Beauty Favourites is a long one, so if you’re spending this snowy Sunday afternoon at home with half an hour to spare, curl up with a nice hot mug of tea and let’s chat chat about a few of my favourite things!

I was truly all over the map this month in terms of products I used and loved, which makes for a very eclectic medley! Makeup wise I found myself drawn to romantic, rosy hues, nude lips and colourful, blown out smoky eyes — I’m craving spring inspired hues, but still embracing the drama of winter. Extremely dry, frigid winter weather persists here in Calgary (and unfortunately March is looking cold!) so my skin has definitely been feeling the effects. I discovered some extremely hydrating products for both my hands and my lips containing nourishing oils to aid in hydration. I also found a great product for taming those pesky flyaways, an inexpensive, no frills setting powder for the face and I rediscovered my love for a metallic, budget friendly eyeliner. I also visited my favourite spa in Canmore for a massage and picked up a chakra balancing essential oil to enjoy at home (in fact, I have some in a warmer right now!). On the completely other end of the spectrum, I feel head over heels for Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum after attending a lovely event celebrating its launch earlier last month!

DIGITAL BLOOMS MARCH 2017 | FREE DESKTOP WALLPAPERS

It’s March 1st and that means it’s time for another installment of DIGITAL BLOOMS, where I team up with my friend and ultra talented flower designer Rebecca Dawn Design each month to create 3 free desktop wallpapers! Except… plot twist — this month, there aren’t any flowers! March is going to be an incredibly exciting month here at JustineCelina for a few reasons — first, it’s my Blogiversary month (I hit publish on my very first post almost 2 years ago!), it’s the first month of spring (hallelujah!) and I have some amazing plans in the works (including travel — and you’re coming with me!). I think you may be able to tell from all the exclamation points in this paragraph just how thrilled I am to be able to share all of this with you!

March seems like the perfect time to celebrate Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2017, Greenery (are you sick of hearing me yammer on about Greenery yet?!), by incorporating this refreshing and revitalizing shade, symbolic of new beginnings, into March’s Digital Blooms. Pantone coined 2017’s it hue as ‘nature’s neutral’ and this month we’re showing it off with an array of exotic green foliage! While we may not see the first signs of spring’s natural greenery in Calgary this month, we can refresh our digital devices with this reviving, restoring and renewing hue. We hope you enjoy March’s Digital Blooms — click through for 3 free Greenery inspired downloads sure to freshen up the background of your completer, tablet or phone just in time for spring!

Are you looking for some fresh tunes as we transition into spring? My February 2017 Soundtrack has you covered with 3 and a half hours of upbeat alternative, indie, electronic, a little hip hop and some fresh new releases! I’ve been discovering most of my new music lately via Spotify’s Discover Weekly (a personalized playlist updated every Monday) and Release Radar (new releases based on your preferences updated every Friday) so there’s definitely been no shortage of new music here at JustineCelina headquarters! I also discovered Spotify’s Brain Food playlist, which features almost 6 hours of mellow electronic music — exactly what I like to listen to while I’m thinking, working and creating!

Standout tracks this month include Lost Boy Crow’s Stay a Little Longer, Marian Hill’s Down (which I also recognized in an Apple commercial towards the end of the month!), Big Wild and Tove Styrke’s Aftergold, Violet Day’s Your Girl, Khai’s Aberrant, Local Native + Charlotte Day Wilson’s Dark Days (Live at ACL), Geotic’s Actually Smiling, Bridget Kearney’s Wash Up, Sun Airway’s All In, Kidswaste + Chelsea Culter’s More Colours, Little Ocean’s Northern Eyes, Fracture’s Lowcast, pronoun + Funeral Advantage’s a million other things, Middle Kid’s Edge of Town, Flor’s Hold On, Alvvays Archie’s Marry Me, The Lumineer’s Cleopatra, The Chainsmokers + Coldplay’s Something Just Like This and General Crush’s Wide Escape (which I just discovered today!). Happy listening!

WINTER 2017 SHOE GUIDE | EXTRAS

Hey shoe lovers — welcome back for the second installment in my 2 part Winter 2017 Shoe Guide mini series dedicated to stylish, cold weather footwear! If you caught the first installment where I shared my favourite winter shoe basics, you’ll know that I’ve gone through a major shoe purge and refresh this season. In rebuilding my cold weather footwear wardrobe, I started with basics first — then I branched out the extras (you know, the fun stuff!). In today’s Winter 2017 Shoe Guide | Extras I’m chatting about 5 pairs of versatile statement shoes that add a unique edge to my outfits.

I’ve always been a fan of statement shoes (but you already know this!) and am a sucker for footwear featuring unique details, textures, colours and prints for its ability to completely elevate a simple outfit to something much more interesting and polished. If you have your basic winter footwear sorted and are looking for some offbeat or elevated options, or simply wanting to inject some extra style into your wardrobe as we transition for winter to spring, I’ve totally got you covered. Kick back with me tonight and learn more about my favourite affordable (most are on end-of-season clearance!) statement shoes — plus how to style them!
