JUNE BEAUTY FAVOURITES

What better way to welcome a new month than with some new beauty goodies? My June 2016 Beauty Favourites is a comprehensive review of what I’ve been loving in the beauty department lately — so grab a snack or cup of tea and get comfy! This month I’m chatting about some exciting new brands and products launching at Canadian London Drugs stores, a full coverage, high end foundation, some gorgeous pink lip products, a fantastic drugstore contouring and highlighting kit, a flexible hold hairspray that gives me tons of volume and a gorgeous, universally flattering foiled eyeshadow from Makeup Geek!

I was splitting my time last month between my home in Calgary and my childhood home in rural Alberta, so I’ve really been able to get a handle on some new products that I packed in my makeup bag to test out. TROPICAL PINEAPPLE TURMERIC COOLER

Man, it’s been hot in Calgary lately (not that I’m complaining)! I’ve been craving lots of tropical fruit and fresh juice to help keep me cool and nourished, so today’s recipe is my latest fresh juice concoction! My Tropical Pineapple Turmeric Cooler is a blend of sweet pineapple, powerhouse carrot, hydrating watermelon, spicy ginger and healing turmeric, rounded out with a bright splash of lemon. I’ve been enjoying it lately post-morning workout, but it’s a versatile recipe that can be enjoyed anytime of the day or night when you need a fresh, sunny pick-me-up! The invigorating ingredient deck always gives me tons of energy to fuel the rest of my morning and it also aids in digestion. Whip up a batch in the A.M. for a tropical kick-start, or enjoy it with a little Caribbean rum on a hot summer night (go on, put some rum in your fresh juice — I’m not gonna judge you!). Cheers to a happy, healthy summer!

GREY DAYS

We’ve been having quite a few grey, rainy days lately. So, I thought I’d embrace it and show you what I wear on a more casual day when I still want to look cute and pulled together! On cooler spring days I like to feel cozy but also wear lighter colours and layers to keep things fresh and seasonally appropriate. I pretty much live in great basics like skinny jeans, cute flats, classic v-necks and oversized cardigans when I’m keeping things casual. Sometimes I also give my eyes a break from contacts and wear glasses. I picked up a couple of new frames recently, so I thought I’d show you how I style them on a casual day! I also chat about my go-to natural makeup look — it’s perfect for glasses.

MARCH BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Welcome back, beautiful people! Today I’m sharing my March Beauty Favourites — where I gravitated towards cooler, purple tones on the eyes, pastel nails, luminous skin and peachy lips. Inside, you’ll find a stunning eyeshadow palette that’s especially flattering on green eyes, a great serum foundation for under $20, a blush that gives you a pretty spring flush, a natural looking, luminous bronzer, my favourite periwinkle nail polish and a pretty, cool-toned rose gold eyeliner.

I also chat a bit about gel polish at home (hey — I like to DIY it when I can!) and colour theory in beauty. If you didn’t know, I went to art school so that definitely translates into my beauty obsession — to me, makeup is an art form and just another way to express myself. I also mention my favourite peach lip, which has been on major repeat this month and I think would suit just about anyone. COLOURPOP CRÈME GEL LINER PHOTOS, REVIEW, SWATCHES

Today I’m reviewing the 9 shades I own from the Colourpop Crème Gel Liner range. Currently there are 25 shades available, and I decided to pick up 9 to try out — 4 metallic shades and 5 mattes. Colourpop’s Crème Gel Liners retail at $5.00 USD for 0.01 oz., just a fraction of the cost of their high-end counterparts. As makeup-loving contact wearer with extremely sensitive eyes, I think I’m the perfect candidate to test out eyeliner! I’ve been wearing and testing them for about 4 months (since they first launched the product!) so I have a really good handle on them. If you’re looking for a great alternative to higher-end eyeliners, or want to learn more about eyeliner in general, this post is for you! 2015 BEAUTY FAVOURITES

If you read any of my beauty posts, read this one! Today I’m rounding up all my 2015 beauty favourites in one post. If you’ve been with me for awhile, you know I absolutely love makeup, playing with beauty products, and experimenting with different looks. Over the years I’ve tried pretty much everything — and I’m definitely very particular when it comes to what I use and like. These are the absolute best, cream-of-the-crop products that I think can work for anyone! I continue to use and recommend these products again and again — not only for myself, but for family and friends of all ages, ethnicities and skintones.

BEST IN BEAUTY | DECEMBER 2015

December was a blur! Between preparing for holidays and then holidays themselves, December always seems to fly by so fast. Last month I traveled all over Alberta visiting family and friends, and definitely noticed myself reaching for the same products consistently. It was pretty simple for me to choose my December beauty favourites — I just had to look inside my travel makeup bag!

Last month I discovered a genius product that lightens foundation to suit winter skintones, my to-go holiday lip, a blush that gives you that ‘just in from the cold’ look, some really unique eyeshadows and long-wearing, affordable eyeliners! Curl up, get cozy and let’s chat about winter beauty!
