You guys, Colourpop did it again! If you’ve been with me for awhile you’ll know how much I love Colourpop Cosmetics — an innovative, affordable, cruelty-free makeup brand hailing from L.A. Last spring when their first line of liquid lipsticks launched, I loved them so much that I did a dedicated review post. And while I do still love the original Ultra Matte Lips, the liquid lipstick world has blown up over the last year — formulas have been perfected, colour ranges have expanded, and brands are really listening to what consumers are looking for. So, when I heard Colourpop launched an Ultra Satin Lip formula that was supposed to by less drying, you know I had to try it out! Click through for my full Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip review, with lots of photos, swatches and comparisons to the original Ultra Matte Lip formula.
We love tulips here at JustineCelina. Who doesn’t?! Every Spring, tulips make their debut in gardens and markets across the country to welcome the season. They’re cheap and cheerful, and we’re constantly inspired by their vibrancy, simplicity and ability to transform any space. Today’s All About Tulips post is another installment in our FLOWER EDUCATION series, where Rebecca Dawn Design and I team up to teach you about seasonal blooms!
In this post you’ll learn about our favourite varieties, what to look for when purchasing tulips and how to care for and condition them so you can enjoy them for up to 10 days. We also share our inspiration for this gorgeous cascading tulip bouquet. If you’ve always wanted to learn more about tulips, grab a notepad and let’s chat about everyone’s favourite spring flower!
There’s just something about spring that makes me really want to experiment in the beauty department! After our long, dreary (and extremely colourless) winters here in Calgary I feel so energized and inspired by the fresh beauty of spring. It’s a time where I try a lot of new products and discover new beauty favourites. So today’s post is something a little different — I’m sharing my favourite 5 Unconventional Spring Lip Colours! Pink and peach are great standbys, but this post is all about trying something totally outside of your comfort zone. I like to keep up with what’s going on in both fashion and beauty, so today’s picks combine a bit of runway inspiration with spring beauty trends. I love affordable beauty products and am always on the hunt for the next drugstore gem — each of my recommendations today is under $20! If you’re looking for some spring beauty inspiration or some fun, on-trend spring shades, this post is for you!
Okay, I think I have a bit of a pink problem! I promise this will be the last pink-themed blog post you’ll see (for awhile, anyway!). Today I’m sharing my favourite, romantic pink lipsticks for Valentine’s Day. I’ve been obsessed with pink in all forms lately, but I love pink lips at this time of year — they can be soft and sweet, or totally bold and daring, depending on the shade you choose! I’m crazy about the look of a bold pink lip with a simple, winged, lashy eye — I think it’s romantic and flirty. I truly feel beautiful and feminine in each of these shades! If you’re wanting to dip your toes into the pink lip trend without breaking the bank, this post is for you. You can find all my favourite pink lipsticks at your local drugstore, for less than $20 (and the majority less than $10!).
Don’t you just love limited edition holiday beauty releases? It’s that magical time of year when brands really seem to step up their game and create so many exclusive products, and value-packed offerings. If you’ve been with me for awhile, you’ll know that I really love Bite Beauty — a Canadian lip-exclusive brand who’s products are made with natural, food grade ingredients that are actually good for your lips. I’ve mentioned previously that Bite’s Luminous Crème Lipsticks are my all time favourite lipsticks — every year I love to pick up these mini duos. They last me until the next year! Today I’m reviewing all 12 shades from the Mix n’ Mingle range for Holiday 2015. If you’re in the market for some great new lipsticks, or looking for gift ideas, you’ve come to the right place!
I’ve followed Pantone for colour inspiration my entire career. If you have no idea what I’m talking about — Pantone is the global colour authority for creative industries. They provide a colour system that ensures colour translates accurately across all mediums — whether it be in fashion, print, or in design. Creatives also look to them to predict colour trends. Basically, they know what’s up — and they keep everyone in the loop!
Every year, usually in early December, they announce their colour of the year — and for 2015 it’s Marsala! Marsala has a variety of shades and interpretations, all equally gorgeous. Pantone describes Marsala as ‘a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embrace warmth’ and ‘like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness’. Pantone also cites is as ‘flattering against many skin tones, sultry and subtle Marsala is a great
go-to color for beauty’. I couldn’t agree more! Marsala lips are everywhere this fall, so today I’m sharing my six favourite Marsala lipsticks in a variety of shades, finishes and price points. Are you ready to embrace this years biggest colour trend?
Today I’m chatting about my latest beauty obsession — the new Ultra Matte Lips from Colourpop! Currently there are 33 shades available, and I decided to pick up 10 from the range to try out. Colourpop’s Ultra Matte Lips retail at $6.00 USD for 0.11 oz., just a fraction of the cost of their high-end counterparts. Lately, it seems like every brand is coming out with their version of a liquid lipstick, and I’m generally a fan of liquid lipstick formulas — they dry to a flat matte finish and are super long wearing. If you’re a lipstick lover (or want to learn more about liquid lipstick) this post is for you! I also have a review of 10 shades from the Ultra Satin Lip range.
