MY FITNESS ROUTINE

If you would have told me a year ago that I’d be creating a blog post about my fitness routine, I would have said you were crazy! Well my friends, that’s exactly what’s happening today — I’m sharing a workout routine that I’m proud to report I’ve been sticking with 6 days per week since February. As someone who’s consistently prioritized almost everything over my fitness for years, I’m so excited to finally have found something that works for me. If you have 15 just free minutes most days and the desire to workout anywhere without any equipment, you can do these workouts too. Did anyone else resolve to work on their fitness this year? Since we’re halfway into 2016, I thought it would be the perfect time to check in and share how I’m working towards my goals. I’m also chatting about my new HIIT training gear — because who doesn’t like to sweat in style?

MAKEUP BRUSH 101

Hey, beautiful people! Welcome back for another installment in my BEAUTY 101 series — where I break down a specific beauty related topic for you in an educational post! Makeup brushes are something I receive a lot of questions about and I’m more than happy to share my knowledge with you. Are you baffled by makeup brushes? Makeup Brush 101 is a comprehensive guide to makeup brush essentials for anyone wanting to elevate their makeup application skills. I have a similar philosophy with makeup application tools as I do with beauty products — I truly believe you can find great brushes and tools at every price point. While the majority of my favourite tools are budget friendly, I’ve also included a few that I totally think are worth the splurge if you’re looking to treat yourself! An artist couldn’t create a masterpiece without great paint brushes, right?! I think the right makeup application tools are just as important (if not more important) than beauty products themselves. SUMMER 2016 TREND HIGHLIGHTS

With August barely underway, many retailers are beginning to introduce fall inventory. Well I don’t know about you, but I’m not even close to being done with summer! Regardless of whether or not the sun is shining in Calgary (rain, rain, go away!), I’ve still been enjoying seasonal trends. Today, I’m sharing my Summer 2016 Trend Highlights and showing you how I’ve been wearing them — including bright whites, pompoms, off the shoulder tops, tassels, fringe, lace up details, frayed hem denim, 70’s revival and layered gold and natural stone jewellery! I’m also thrilled to be working with my favourite local jewellery designer Coutu Kitsch to share some of my favourite pieces from their SS16 El Verano Collection with you.

JULY BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Welcome back for another Monthly Beauty Favourites post! This July I fell in love with a gorgeous new summer fragrance from Givenchy, discovered a budget friendly liquid eyeliner that rivals my high end favourite, wore my new Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks to death and found the perfect coral lip liner to go with them!

It was a pretty low-key month for be beauty wise and I tended towards pairing bolder lip colors with a simple winged eye — which is one of my favourite summer looks. I also used my favourite eyeshadows from Makeup Geek almost everyday! If you’re looking for great summer beauty and fragrance recommendations, stay tuned for a healthy mix of drugstore and high end discoveries. AL FRESCO SUMMER DINING INSPIRATION

One of my favourite things about summer is spending time in the serenity of country and getting outside. I welcome any chance to dine al fresco (meaning: in the open air) and today I’m walking you through how I pulled together this unique outdoor dinner party on a budget. This earthy, upscale celebration is inspired by the Easy Vegan White Mushroom Pizzas on the Grill I created for The Food Bloggers of Canada to celebrate outdoor summer entertaining!

Tonight I’m sharing my insider tips for creating and styling memorable gatherings — from my favourite sources for inexpensive entertaining essentials, to foraging for unique pieces in the prairies, to a simple copper-themed DIY. HERE COMES THE SUN

After 10 days of rain and some crazy storms here in Alberta, I took full advantage of a few brief days of sunshine earlier this week. Today I’m chatting about carefree summer style and my favourite easy pieces to wear on hot summer days. You know, those simple ‘one and done’ pieces that practically style themselves — you can just throw them on and go? That’s what today’s post is all about! I’m also sharing some great accessories to add interest to easy summer outfits along with my go-to pair of oversized shades. Come adventure to the beautiful canola fields right behind my family’s acreage in rural Alberta and enjoy some virtual Vitamin D!
