Are looking for supercharged ingredients take your skincare routine to the next level? Well my friends, this post is for you! If you’re new to the world of chemical exfoliants, vitamin C, niacinamide, retinol and daily SPF you’re in for some serious education — today I’m sharing 5 Powerhouse Skincare Ingredients that make the biggest difference in the overall appearance and clarity of my skin.

Many of you may not know this, but I had horrible skin in my early and mid 20’s (read more about my skin story). What’s even worse is how awful it made me feel. Those of you who’ve experienced (or are experiencing) skin issues know that there’s nothing worse than not feeling comfortable in your own skin. So, a few years ago I set out a quest to educate myself about skincare and finally found a routine that gives me happy, healthy skin. It still feels so strange when I’m complimented on my skin, or when people think I’m much younger than I actually am. RED WINE CAESARS

I love red wine. I also love caesars. It was really only a matter of time before I tried them together in a cocktail — and it is so, so delicious! In fact, I don’t think I can ever go back — I’ve ruined traditional caesars for myself. The idea of the red wine caesar initially came to me on a beautiful summer day (a caesar Sunday, in fact!) at my family’s acreage. After a couple of caesars I thought, “Hey! I bet a splash of red wine would be really good in here!”. Well, it turns out that it wasn’t just the vodka talking! The addition of red wine adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the traditional caesar — it intensifies and enriches the flavours much like adding wine to a red pasta sauce or gravy would. And I didn’t stop there — my recipe also calls for a splash of olive juice (I’m dirty martini fan, as well!). If you’re looking for a sophisticated twist on the classic Canadian caesar, this cocktail is for you!

PEPPERED PEAR ELIXIR

Since I haven’t been drinking this month (I’m doing a Sober September), I’ve been inspired to step up my juicing game! I seem to come up with the most unique flavour combinations when I’m trying to use things up around the kitchen — that’s how my Peppered Pear Elixir was born. We had a couple of peppers, pears and celery stalks that were on their last days, so I decided to throw them into a juice, along with a few other ingredients I had kicking around. The result is a sweet n’ spicy, aromatic juice brimming with a medley of awesome detoxifying ingredients. Enjoy this elixir on a fall morning while Bartlett pears are in season, and kick-start your day!

MY HAIRCARE ROUTINE FOR LONG, THICK, COLOUR TREATED HAIR

Can you believe it’s been 6 years since I’ve published a Haircare Routine?! While a lot has changed, my passion for maintaining healthy hair at home with a simple but effective routine (and thoughtfully formulated products) remains. Today, in partnership with Canadian retailer BeautySense.ca, I’m elated to bring you my updated Haircare Routine for Long, Thick Colour Treated Hair — featuring my all-time-favourite Moroccanoil products and how I use them.

My hair is one of the things I’m complimented on (and asked about!) most — and it’s something I take great pride in. Despite my wild haircolour and style past, over the course of my 7 year blogging career here at JustineCelina, both have remained fairly consistent (with a couple rounds of bangs thrown in for good measure!). While I truly enjoyed my natural haircolour for as long as possible, as I’ve ventured into my 30’s, I’ve begun colouring my hair once again (this time to disguise those pesky greys!) and adjusted my routine accordingly. At present day I’m pleased to say that my hair has never been stronger, longer or healthier — and today I’m sharing my best kept hair secrets!
