MAY BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Welcome back for another installment of my Monthly Beauty Favourites posts! Today I’m chatting summer beauty and sharing some of my favourite liquid lipsticks, lip liners, a new brow pencil, a gorgeous baked bronzer, a stunning ombre blush, and my all-time favourite eyeshadow to complete bronze and gold looks.

I placed a Colourpop order in May to test out some of their newer launches, so most of my favourites today are from Colourpop — one of my favourite affordable makeup brands. I also tried some products from the Lise Watier limited edition Summer 2016 Escale Collection and found a great bronzer for the summer! If you’re looking to inject some new life into your beauty routine this summer or incorporate a few fun new shades, this post is for you. Let’s chat summer beauty!

MAY 2016 BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Essence Blush Up Blush in Heat Wave

C $3.99

Essence Blush Up Blush in Heat Wave Photos, Review, Swatches // JustineCelina.com

I picked this blush up last summer and it’s always one of my favourites in the warmer months. The Essence Blush Up Blush in Heat Wave is a stunning hot orange / pink ombre and I love the pop of colour paired with orange, coral and pink lipsticks, but I find it surprisingly versatile. This powder is pigmented, blendable and smooth and gives a gorgeous, warm coral flush when the shades are swirled together. Or, you have the option to use either side for a more pink or orange blush — it’s like 3 blushes in one compact! Essence is one of my favourite inexpensive brands — I’m always impressed with the quality of their products, especially for the price. Canadians, I find Essence at select Shoppers Drug Mart Locations, but I’ve also seen the line in Superstores recently! US readers, try Target or Ulta. I’ve mentioned many of my other favourite products here on JustineCelina if you’re looking for brand recommendations — but definitely check this blush out!

I’m wearing a subtle application Essence’s Blush Up Blush in Heat Wave on my cheeks. And if you’re curious, I’m wearing Becca’s Champagne Pop the tops of my cheekbones and tip of my nose for that glow. It’s my favourite summer highlighter — I reviewed it last summer in this post.

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Echo Park

US $6.00

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Echo Park Photos, Review, Swatches // JustineCelina.com

Like I predicted in my dedicated Colourpop Ultra Satin Lips post, I’ve been wearing Echo Park so much! It’s been my go-to nude lately because it’s exactly the same colour as my natural lips and I find it really flattering. Colourpop describes Echo Park as a ‘warm peachy nude’. On me, it’s a true nude. Of all the nudes in the range, I think this is the most wearable. For a review of all the Ultra Satin Lips I own, hop over to this post.

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Molly

US $6.00

I love lilacs, and last month I was crazy about this lilac liquid lipstick! It’s such a wearable lilac, without making your teeth look yellow. Colourpop describes Molly as a ‘midtone plum lilac’. There’s a lot of depth to this colour and it’s one of the thicker formulas, which makes it really flattering. For a review of all the Ultra Satin Lips I own, hop over to this post.

Lise Watier Escale Bronzing Powder*

C $44.00

Lise Watier Escale Bronzing Powder Photos, Review, Swatches // JustineCelina.com

This is an absolutely stunning Italian made, baked bronzer from Lise Watier’s limited edition Summer 2016 Escale Collection that imparts such a warm, but natural looking glow on the skin. I love the golden tone of this bronzer — because of the blend of bronze, pink and gold you’re never at risk of looking orange. The pan size is huge and I love to get in there with a big, fluffy bronzing brush and apply bronzer to my forehead, temples and cheeks to warm up my complexion. I’ve also been enjoying applying it to my décolleté and shoulders, and using it as a transition shade on my eyes! It’s such a versatile product and I know the Escale Bronzing Powder will be my go-to bronzer this summer.

Colourpop Brow Pencil in Bangin’ Brunette

C $5.00

Colourpop Brow Pencil in Bangin' Brunette Photos, Review, Swatches // JustineCelina.com

I decided to pick up some Colourpop brow products in my last order and I’ve really been enjoying this Brow Pencil in Bangin’ Brunette. I’m so used to doing my brows with the Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW Pomade in Dark Brown (which I’ve used exclusively for well over a year) that it was a bit of learning curve to get back into using a pencil, but I really love the effect I achieve. My brows look a more soft and feathery using this brow pencil, and I love that look for summer! The Bangin’ Brunette shade is slightly lighter than the Dark Brown DIPBROW, but still an ashy, medium brown. On me though, it pulls a bit warmer but still matches well with my hair colour. I love that they included a spoolie on one end to make combing through your brows simple — it allows me to eliminate an extra tool in my brow routine! The only downside is I could see myself going through this quite quickly, but for the price that’s not really an issue. Colourpop has a fairly broad Brow Pencils shade range, so if you’re on the hunt for a budget-friendly brow pencil with a spoolie included I say give it a shot!

Colourpop Lippie Pencil in Polite Society

C $5.00

Colourpop Lippie Pencil in Polite Society Photos, Review, Swatches // JustineCelina.com

I needed to pick up a new nude lip liner and loved the sound the Lippie Pencil in Polite Society, which is new from Colourpop. They describe it warm nude but on me it’s a perfect nude pink. It’s such a versatile shade and pairs well with any nude or nude pink lipsticks I’ve tried it with! It’s also gorgeous all over the lips as a matte lipstick or base to prolong the wear of any similar lipstick shade. In May, I wore it most with their Ultra Satin Lip in Echo Park, mentioned above. They’re a perfect pair!

Colourpop Lippie Pencil in Chi Chi

C $5.00

Colourpop Lippie Pencil in Chi Chi Photos, Review, Swatches // JustineCelina.com

Chi Chi is my all-time favourite orange lip liner! Colourpop makes some of the best lip liners on the market and I own several colours — I’ve mentioned them many times here at JustineCelina. Chi Chi is perfect for pairing with summery oranges, orange corals and orange based reds. I even wore is all over my lips as a matte lipstick and it lasted for about 8 hours through dinner (lots of delicious Mexican food) and drinks. If you’re looking for some amazing lip liners in almost every colour under the sun, you must check out the Colourpop Lippie Pencil range!

Makeup Geek Eyeshadow in Dessert Sands

US $6.00

Makeup Geek Eyeshadow in Dessert Sands Photos, Review, Swatches // JustineCelina.com

Dessert Sands is a longtime favourite eyeshadow that I love using as a transition shade with warm bronze and gold looks. It’s a matte, warm, yellow-based camel brown. The MakeupGeek eyeshadows are some of my favourite traditional powder eyeshadows and I’ve mentioned my other favourite shades previously if you’re looking for recommendations from the brand!

Love all your favourites! Such gorgeous colours.
    I have always loved makeup.
I still remember the first time I was allowed to wear eye shadow, it was an exciting time! It was a gorgeous pallet of purples.
I am opening a little photography studio, specializing in fine art portraiture, boudoir and glamour and plan on learning to do makeup as part of the packages for my clients. I look forward to following your makeup posts.

I’m in love with the lip pencil in Chi Chi! I have an orange lipstick from Maybelline and this looks like it would match it perfectly. I love the price point of Colourpop as well.

I love your favourites. Your lip swatches are always so amazing. Also that Essence blush looks amazing. I hope I can try Colourpop sometime soon. I think I found a Swiss site, that has a small selection.
