I couldn’t think of a better time than the first week of February (and during another crazy winter storm — cue eye roll!) to share my latest style obsession with you — blush! Those of you who know me in real life can attest to the fact that I’ve probably said I ‘don’t really wear pink’ about 1000 times (I’ve even mentioned that in a few posts!) — but today I’m eating my words! I’m completely obsessed with all things blush right now and have had this stunning Topshop Alicia Boucle Wool Blend Coat (that I snapped up on clearance just before it sold out over the holidays!) on repeat lately, so I thought it was time to share a blush focused look with you. As I mentioned in our February DIGITAL BLOOMS, there’s definitely a bit of a theme happening here at JustineCelina this month! So, I thought it was the perfect time to revive my COLOUR CRUSH series — where I highlight an on trend colour and show you how to work it into your personal style!
If all this February snow has you craving spring’s pastels, cozy up with me on this chilly Wednesday evening and let’s chat about spring colour trends and all things blush! In this post, I’m sharing my favourite blush outerwear pieces — along with some tips on how to style blush pieces in a sophisticated way, my go-to daytime makeup look, where I snagged these gorgeous OTK Steve Madden boots for less than $50 and my favourite retailer for designer bag dupes (that’s right, this is not the real deal — and it’s under $40!). If you’re intrigued by February’s quintessential hue and have debated whether or not it’s for you or are looking for styling ideas, you’ll love today’s post!
Flower children, welcome back for another installment in our FLOWER EDUCATION series! Today Rebecca Dawn Design and I couldn’t be more excited to share this Blushing Spring Arrangement with you — it’s sweet, fragrant and right on trend for Spring 2017 (nope, I’m not even close to being done with the Spring 2017 Pantone Fashion Color Report!). Although I love each of the arrangements and bouquets Rebecca and I create, I have to say — this one is my all time favourite!
Blush tones are a huge trend this spring and its been so much fun translating seasonal colour inspiration across categories. This season, blush, peach and neutral tones have been present in my BEAUTY content and I can’t stop wearing blush inspired neutrals at the moment (they’ll be popping up in my next FASHION post!). Not only are blush and neutral toned blooms perfectly on trend, but the exquisite variety of shades that mother natures provides for us each spring is truly nothing short of amazing. Embrace the season with us today as we chat about our favourite spring blooms and flowering branches in this Blushing Spring Arrangement — including dreamy, oversized Japanese Ranunculus, standard Ranunculus, Quicksand Roses, Lisianthus, Hyacinths and fragrant Magnolia branches hailing from Canada’s west coast! Rebecca also shares her expert flowering branch foraging and care tips to inspire you to enjoy the beauty of the season in your home this spring.
Sometimes I think it’s important to look for recipe inspiration in new places. As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve been on a bit of a beet kick (and a pink kick) lately — so today’s fresh juice recipe is inspired by pink hues! This juice is totally different than what I would usually make — and it’s all because I combined ingredients for colour first, and flavour second. My Blushing Beet Juice incorporates seasonal produce like beets, oranges and grapefruit with ingredients that I don’t normally juice, like strawberries (which have been looking particularly delicious lately, even though they’re not in season). The result is a perfectly sweet, balanced pink juice, packed full of amazing, heart healthy ingredients. Enjoy this vibrant pink juice for love month — the recipe makes enough for two generous servings, and you can also freeze it to make your own popsicles (kids love them!). Have some fun in the kitchen this February and shake up your juicing menu!
Year after year as we approach Valentine’s Day, I find myself seeing through proverbial rose-coloured glasses and craving all things pink! After an indulgent holiday season, I always look forward to getting back on track and into a routine that supports my overall well being in January. During the first week of each new year, I find myself searching my FOOD archives for my healthiest winter recipes — and know you’re doing the same, as my views on these posts skyrocket. So, I created my 20+ Healthy Recipes to Kick Start The New Year roundup! This mega post contains over 20 of my healthiest, freshest, plant-based recipes incorporating all the gorgeous seasonal produce available to us in early January, for easy browsing reference. From breakfast through dinner, with nourishing snacks, fresh juices and smoothies along the way, you’ll find everything you need to create a healthy January meal plan in this post! As always, my recipes are free of dairy, gluten and refined sugar — and most are vegetarian / vegan. I’ve indicated these categories in this post with convenient labels so you can easily find what you’re looking for!
Although I do my best to maintain my plant-based diet over the holidays, I firmly believe in balance — you better believe I indulge in my fair share of treats as well! As someone with dairy and gluten sensitivities, I find my digestion can easily get thrown out of whack when I’m not being as mindful while I’m eating, drink and being merry. My favourite ways to kick start my metabolism and get things running smoothly again is by treating my body to lots of colourful fruits and veggies, juices and smoothies, hearty salads and bowls, plant-based entrées and simple, wholesome soups. I also aim to keep my snacking to a minimum and give the baking and the booze a rest (you won’t find any snacks, baking or cocktail recipes in this roundup). Who else is having a dry January this year? If you’re in need of some fresh recipes to help fuel these first few weeks of the new year with intention, you’ve come to the right place — pour yourself a mug of herbal tea and come peruse my all-time-favourite, nourishing winter recipes!
Flower friends, welcome back for the first post of 2021! Today marks the end of an era here at JustineCelina, as it’s the first month since DIGITAL BLOOMS‘ inception back in April 2016 that I’m not providing a new free floral wallpaper for download (yes, you read that correctly!). I spent much of 2020 letting go of things that no longer served me and making space for what’s next so I could live and work in greater alignment. This facilitated a lot of strategizing around how I could continue to grow my blog and business in 2021. Longtime readers will know I’ve mentioned I would love to extend my DIGITAL BLOOMS into a series of calendar-based digital and print products (this is something many of you have requested as well!), however, given the volume of content I previously produced each month and the resources required, it simply wasn’t possible. So, it’s time for a change! I’m pleased to announce that I’m dedicated the first few months of 2021 to carving out what’s next for JustineCelina Digital Blooms and am feeling very inspired to refocus and finally tackle the e-commerce component of my brand!
But, not to worry! My extensive archive of tech wallpapers will remain available for free download here at JustineCelina, regardless of the additional products I develop. While I work away on what’s next, each month this year I’ll publish a roundup of free floral tech wallpapers for easy browsing. Even if you’re a die hard DIGITAL BLOOMS fan, surely you haven’t downloaded each of the 8 free January tech wallpapers I’ve produced over the years, have you?! Freshen up your tech for 2021 by choosing from my best free floral tech wallpapers featuring a stunning array of seasonal winter flowers and foliage, crisp colour palettes and inventive arrangements to enjoy on the background of your computer, tablet or phone. As always, I hopeJanuary’s Digital Blooms bring you joy and inspiration as we ease into a fresh new year. Thank you so much for your continued support as I shift my focus to expanding JustineCelinaDIGITAL BLOOMS into digital and print based products this year! I could have never imagined how successful this series would become and can’t wait to continue explore all the new possibilities that lie ahead as I break ground on a longstanding business goal. Wishing you all a wonderful new year!
