Who’s ready for some fresh tunes? My April Soundtrack is huge — 4.5 hours of my favourite music from the month! April was a really busy month for me, and I love to listen to different genres of music while I work. This soundtrack is a mixture of fast paced, upbeat tunes with some chill tracks thrown into the mix as well. I rediscovered my love for Explosions in the Sky — an instrumental group that I love to listen to when I’m writing or proofing. I also checked out the new M83 album Junk and while I’m not a fan of their first single, overall the album is really good! I’ve still been using and loving Spotify this month and most of my new music discoveries have come from their Weekly Discover playlists, although I did find a few favourite new tracks via Sirius XM. My April Soundtrack is great background music to help you work, think and create!
monthly soundtrack
I discovered tons of new music this month — my March Soundtrack is 101 minutes of pure ear candy! This month I’ve been loving Spotify’s Discover Weekly playlists. If you’re not familiar with Spotify, each month they generate a new, 30 song playlist specifically customized to you and what you like to listen to. It’s been a great way for me to discover new music! I also heard quite a few tracks I liked via Sirius XM this month. My March Soundtrack is an eclectic mix of happy, feel good, easy listening tunes!
This is the music I had on repeat during love month. Since I’ve started using Spotify, I feel like I’m able to explore all different genres (and time periods) of music much more fluidly. So, my February Soundtrack is a a really eclectic mash up of happy, feel good tunes! Overall, I’m just able to have a lot more freedom with these monthly soundtracks. February was a very inspired month for me, and I draw so much of my creative inspiration from the music I listen to. I discovered tons of new artists, but I also rediscovered some old favourites like alt-J. Since I had access to whatever I wanted, I went on a huge Beatles binge — so I’ve ended this playlist with my favourite Beatles song. If you’re looking for some great thinking and creating music, I think you’ll love this month’s mix.
Programming Note: beginning this month, I’m switching over to Spotify exclusively for monthly soundtracks. If you’re a Spotify user too, come join me over there!
My January Soundtrack is full of happy, eclectic, beachy tunes — I’ve been transporting myself away from our cold Alberta winters via music (in stark contrast to this month’s album cover!). I feel like I was really on my musical game in January and discovered so many new artists via Sirius XM. I have a few favourite channels that I listen to while I work, and I did so much Shazamming this month! A couple of standout tracks include Tor Miller‘s Carter & Cash, ARIZONA‘s Where I Wanna Be and Beach Slang‘s Bad Art & Weirdo Ideas. This is great, upbeat, thinking and creating music! If you give it a listen, let me know what your favourite tracks are — you can stream this soundtrack across your devices, right from this post.
I’ve been really into music, well… for as long as I can remember! So every month, I’m going to make a playlist here on JustineCelina — a monthly soundtrack featuring fifteen songs that have been on heavy rotation in my music library. My March Soundtrack is full of some pretty chill, feel good, alternative tunes.
2018 REVIEW + 2019 GOALS
Well hello, friends! It’s been a little while since I’ve posted — I took some time during the first half of this dry January (it’s actually been great!) to reflect on the past year, get re-inspired and really put some thought into what I’d like to achieve in 2019. It’s been a very valuable exercise, so thank you for your patience! Today I’m dishing on everything I’ve discovered in this real, raw, lengthy (we’re talking the longest post I’ve ever written!) read recapping 2018 and sharing my intentions, aspirations and goals for the new year — plus exactly how I plan to achieve them!
When I look back on my goals post from last year, I feel grateful to be in a much better head space and place in my life — although it was a long road to get here. Longtime readers will know I’m always very transparent about the staggering amount of work that goes into blogging, content creation and creative entrepreneurship — and from the day I stared this blog in March of 2015 through to the end of 2017, I hustled hard. As a result, I entered 2018 feeling completely burnout, uninspired and unsure of how to proceed. I knew a change was necessary for me to move forward and progress in a way that would allow for more balance and well being in my life (and therefore more inspired work), but I wasn’t exactly sure how to get there. I felt like I needed to slow down and take life as it came, rather than creating an exhaustive list of all the things I felt I needed to accomplish — and I spent 2018 doing just that. I changed course and made chasing my passions for HOME and FASHION based content my first priority, which resulted in a pretty monumental year here at JustineCelina. That said, the largest shifts I made were off of these pages, in my mental and physical health, relationships and life in general. Fast forward to January of 2019 and I’m feeling energized, more inspired and productive than ever — and ready to make 2019 my best year yet! If you’re curious about what what’s to come, my favourite tools and resources to stay organized, inspired and fit, or in need of a healthy dose of motivation, cozy up with me and let’s chat about living and working with confidence and intention this year!
Well hello, friends! If you don’t follow along with my Instagram Stories, you’re probably wondering where the heck I’ve been. It’s crazy to think it’s been over a month since I’ve posted — something I never envisioned would happen here at JustineCelina. And I promise it was never my intention to just abandon you guys and go MIA without an explanation. So, tonight I’m going to catch you up on everything that went down over the past month to contribute to my forced blogging break.
First things first, I’m okay. And thank you so much to all you kind souls who checked in on me or sent sweet messages while I was away. Although this past month has been incredibly challenging in every avenue of life, it’s also granted me a fresh perspective that I wouldn’t have otherwise gained without taking this unexpected step back — and for that I’m very grateful. This a long post — so if you’re curious about what been going on in my life lately and what you can expect from me moving forward, get cozy, pour yourself a glass of wine and settle in for a real, raw, lengthy read!
