Spicy Pumpkin Persimmon Smoothie // JustineCelina.com


My Spicy Pumpkin Persimmon Smoothie combines homemade pumpkin puree (which I also share my recipe for in this post!) and sweet and creamy persimmon with spicy fall flavours of fresh ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. This is one of my favourite smoothies yet -- it tastes like an indulgent treat, but it's brimming with healthy, nourishing, seasonal ingredients!

  • 1 cup frozen bananas
  • 2/3 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 sweet persimmon
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 tsp fresh lemon juice (just a squeeze)
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 tsp fresh minced ginger
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves

Optional Garnish

  • Crushed ginger snap cookies
  • Coconut flakes
  • Star anise
  • Cinnamon stick


  1. Peel the persimmon, and chop into small pieces. Mince ginger.
  2. Add all ingredients to your Vitamix (or similar) and blend until smooth.
  3. Add optional garnish. I used with crushed ginger snap cookies, coconut flakes, star anise and a cinnamon stick.
  4. Serve immediately and enjoy!
