WINTER 2019 LOOKBOOK

Beautiful people, I’m elated to share the first seasonal LOOKBOOK of 2019 here at JustineCelina! If you’re just tuning in and you didn’t catch my 2018 Review + 2019 Goals post last week, you may have missed the announcement that I’ll be producing one, 12 outfit LOOKBOOK seasonally this year to help inspire your sartorial choices — and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Although winter officially arrived about a month ago, we’re now in the heart of the season. Surprisingly, the weather here in Calgary has been very mild and relatively snow-free (most days have been above freezing!) — presenting some unique style options to a girl who’s used to making the most of our long, harsh Canadian winters!

With January sales in full effect and the onset of a new year, now is the perfect time to clean out your closet, identify holes in your wardrobe, get inspired and refine your personal style! As always, this LOOKBOOK features everything I’ve been wearing and loving in both personal and professional settings this season — a melange of high, low, old, new and vintage, along with tons of shoppable links at every price point! Although winter can be an uninspiring time for many in the FASHION department, I use cooler weather as an opportunity to experiment with cozy layers, sumptuous fabrics, unique textures, daring prints and a rich colour palette to create polished looks to take me from day to night. You’ll find cold weather classics intermixed with a sprinkling of this season’s hottest trends, colours and a hopeful nod to spring’s blooming arrival — there’s truly something for everyone. PATTERN PLAY | LEOPARD

I’m spending Good Friday catching up on some editorial content — and I don’t mind one bit! It’s snowing (again… cue eye roll!) here in Calgary so I’m quite content to be curled up at my desk in a cozy pair of sweatpants and fuzzy socks with my second cup of coffee. Spring has definitely been holding out on us this year — and while most of the world (and the fashion industry) is in full on spring mode, I always dress for our current Alberta climate. Today I’m thrilled to introduce a new series to the JustineCelina FASHION department called PATTERN PLAY — where I dedicate an entire post to a specific pattern — along with tons of styling ideas, curated pieces with shoppable links at every price point and tips for selecting the right print for your lifestyle and body type. And we’re kicking things off with one of my favourite classic prints, leopard! I’m also taking this snow covered opportunity to get the last of cold weather textures in — including (faux) leather, satin and wool. Hey — I’m a glass half full kinda gal!

Regardless of whether you’re a leopard lover or never thought leopard was for you, there’s something for everyone in today’s post! I’m chatting about how you can incorporate leopard print into your wardrobe right now as well as transition it into spring (and style it with 2 of my favourite spring prints, stripes and florals!). I’ve always considered leopard print a neutral (when you break it down, it’s just shades of brown and black) — and while it’s more popular some seasons than others, this iconic pattern truly never goes out of style. In fact, I’ve owned my oldest leopard piece for about 8 years! Of course, there are some of the usual suspects in today’s look as well — including baker boy hats (but don’t worry — I finally trimmed my fringe this week so I’ll be sharing some new style content next month where I’m not wearing a hat!), longline coats, OTK boots and a beautiful, neutral lip — but I’ve also integrated some fun, playful textures in this monochromatic, leopard-centric outfit.

HOW TO STYLE | KIMONOS FOR AUTUMN

Friends, I’ve never been more excited to share a FASHION post here at JustineCelina as I am today! If you follow along via my socials, you’ll know that we took a trip to the Alberta Badlands on an unseasonably warm (and windy!) day last week to shoot some new autumn style content. This look is the first of 3 captured against this stunning landscape that will be rolling out over the next month or so — and they’re some of my favourite images we’ve ever created, fashion wise! Today’s post also marks the revival of my HOW TO STYLE series — where I take specific on-trend item that you might not think you can pull off, may be intimidated by, or may not think is wearable for a certain season. If you frequent my style archives, you’ll know just how much I love kimonos — but did you know they’re actually one of my favourite pieces to wear year round? Today I’m sharing my best tips and tricks for styling kimonos for autumn, as well as a handful of my favourite casual fall wardrobe staples!

I mentioned earlier in October that since cutting my fringe I feel completely reinspired fashion wise. I’d always wanted take a trip to the Badlands to capture style content and I figured an 18°C day in October was as good a time as any! Typically, we photograph style content as I’m actually wearing things (it’s more authentic to me that way), but I was itching to try something new. So, I packed up the car with outfits and gear — and we headed an hour northwest of my childhood home in rural Alberta to the Drumheller area for a change of scenery. As we journeyed into the desert and beautiful backdrops unfolded around every turn I marveled at how traveling just a couple of hours can really inspire the content and it’s something I want to do a lot more of in the future! Come along with me on a virtual adventure to the Badlands as I break down this free spirited autumn look — complete with tons of shoppable links at every price point, plus tips on how to distress your own denim (I DIY’ed this pair myself)!

AUTUMN 2017 TREND GUIDE | STREET CHIC

I’m back tonight with the first of many AUTUMN 2017 TREND GUIDES coming to JustineCelina this year and I couldn’t be more excited to share it! I look different — and I certainly feel different as well. Since taking the plunge and indulging in the eyelash skimming fringe I’d been lusting after since the summer, I’m finding myself completely renergized when it comes to all things fashion, style and beauty. So, we’re changing things up around here — this TREND GUIDE is dedicated to refreshing your personal style for a new season! In addition to diving head first into a handful of this season’s hottest trends, I’m also sharing my favourite ways to revitalize my look without breaking the bank (I shopped my own closet to pull this look together — gotta love that!).

SUMMER 2017 TREND GUIDE | WEEKEND WEAR

Welcome back for another SUMMER 2017 TREND GUIDE, everyone! It’s been a beautiful summer here in Calgary and personally, I’m not even close to being ready for fall. I said the same thing last summer, but fall doesn’t officially arrive for over a month and I’m in absolutely no rush to get there. So while the fashion industry (and many fellow bloggers ) are gearing up for autumn, here at JustineCelina I’m planning to enjoy summer for as long as possible! You can expect one more SUMMER 2017 TREND GUIDE later this month, along with a new post in my WHAT TO WEAR TO series — this time, I’m styling a look for late summer weddings.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves! My goal through publishing these TREND GUIDES is to keep you (and myself!) up to speed on the latest trends while also staying true to my personal style. And I’m sure by now, you must understand my love of white, stripes and oversized straw bags! Although this look features a lot of the same trends as my Spring 2017 Trend Guide | Casual Chic (which I styled for more professional settings), this is a look I’d typically reserve for weekends. And if I’m honest, I’ve repeated this exact outfit several times already this summer! Hang onto summer a little longer today as I chat about how to style breezy stripes, summer whites, embellished straw bags (I actually DIYed this one!), straw, rattan and jute accessories, espadrilles and boho braids in this relaxed weekend look!

WINTER STYLE STAPLES

Let me preface this post by saying that I do not like the cold. I tend to run cold in the first place, no matter the season (I seriously sleep big, cozy sweaters and multiple pairs of socks!). But what I do love about winter is the fashion — the opportunity to dress well, bundle up and experiment with layering different textures, fabrics and proportions. And although it still gets dark around 4pm (oh Calgary, aren’t you charming in January?!), I also love the warm, golden afternoon light juxtaposed against the frosty, white backdrop of my city! It almost makes up for having to shoot winter style content in -25 °C weather (ha!).

While I’m all for keeping up with the trends, today’s post is dedicated to my trusted Winter Style Staples — items I purchase each year in different colours or interpretations, as well as the investment pieces I look forward to pulling out when it gets chilly. If you’re looking for some winter fashion inspiration to help you brave these arctic Calgary temperatures in style, you’ve come to the right place! AUTUMN 2016 TREND GUIDE | NEW ROMANTIC

I’m so excited to share the first post in a of a series of AUTUMN 2016 TREND GUIDES here at JustineCelina, where I’m breaking down this seasons biggest trends and showing you how to wear them! I’ve mentioned previously that fall is my favourite time of year for many reasons and fashion in definitely one of them. There’s just something about autumn that makes me want to start anew and refresh my wardrobe to reflect current trends — so today I’m sharing a few of the updates I’ve made and how I like to style my new additions. Today we’re chatting about the new romantic trend and combining 70’s inspired fall florals, waistcoats, rich reds, military greens, statement sleeves, mini bags, velvet, matte lips, chokers, shades of grey, over the knee boots and suede to achieve the look! Oh… and you didn’t think I want going to publish a post without mentioning the Fall 2016 Pantone Fashion Trend Report, did you?
